Default PPT FFL03/COE immediate delivery for C&R handgun

Hi guys, I had a question with something that I've never done before. I have an FFL03 and COE, and will probably be doing a PPT for a Tokarev TT-33 that I found that will probably get, but haven't done a same-day immediate release through a PPT before. What's the process for this? I know a call to DOJ is required but beyond that, I'm not sure what else may be required. What else needs to be done besides that, if anything? I don't remember the working hours of DES support, I'm assuming they'd probably have people working on a Sunday right? I'd appreciate some input on this. The reason I ask is that I work for a chain of gun stores in SoCal, and want to be prepared so I can say "Here's what to do" when it comes time to do the PPT.

You have to call the DES people. The contact us link gives their number and perhaps the hours that they are there. The person should know the process, if not, ask to talk to a supervisor. You should have everything ready to submit the DROS.

Thanks, figured it was something like that, but wanted to make sure, to make it easier on both parties.

In the past, they have told me to process the transaction as a PPT as normal, put the C&R/COE in the packet, call DES to tell them I am releasing it at time of transaction, making note on the packet, then after 10 days going in and clicking deliver, calling DES again. They supposedly add it to AFS the first day, however i dont think its actually added until you click deliver.

I think it would make more sense to write it up as a C&R transaction, and tell the seller to fill out a No longer in possession form, but the DOJ has never instructed me to do it that way. I think it comes down to them not really getting the implications of doing it their way.

Interesting. So basically just a "heads up" to DOJ it sounds like? I was under the assumption it was just a call to say "Hey I need a gun released from your end for a PPT with an FFL".

Pretty much. They just tell you to make note, and release it in DES In 10 days.
