Default What's The Best AR-15 Stock?

Yep, that's it. I know this is subjective so what's your favorite stock and why?

I neglected to gather good information for this choice on my first build and went with a cheapo 4 pos. Stag. Out at the range today I realized that this floppy, sloppy, no good POS probably won't bother any short range shooting but it could really be a problem when I build #2, varmint gun.

How can I add a poll? Is it too late

For collapsible stocks, you can't beat the Magpul CTR for value. It can also lock the stock on the buffer tube for a more solid mount.

Why not just get an A2 style stock if you're going to build a varmint gun?

For A Varmint build I would spend the cash and get the Magpul PRS stock!

Here is a picture of the AR I built for my girlfriend.

Good point and I will consider it if I can't afford the PRS. I'm also interested in upgrading my current stock.

Lucky girl. That PRS definately looks like the ticket for any Varmint gun. How often does said girlfriend shoot said rifle in comparison to you?

When we go to the range (she always goes with me) she shoots hers about 90-95% of the time. It has a new muzzle brake on it that's not in the picture and the new muzzle brake (JP tactical brake) combined with the Enidine hydraulic buffer and the heavy barrel make for almost no muzzle rise or recoil! She loves shooting at the steel plates on the 600 yard line at Angeles range. She has really become good at hitting those plates from both prone and the bench!

ETA: it also doesn't have the VFG on it anymore since I taught her to shoot it the right way! And once in a while I steal her lower and put it on my favorite upper to shoot group's. I love the PRS but it is a heavy beast.

Not to be gay, but that rifle almost makes me wish I was your girlfriend.

How about the Magpul UBR Utility/Battle Rifle Stock?

It looks awesome. Any opinions on it?

A1 or A2. Designed to get your butt off of the bench when you shoot

For bench/prone work the Magpul PRS ,CAA, regular A2 stock. Have shot using all of them and other than the name...they both serve the purpose for solid platform.

For a CQB rifle...something collapsable for LOP...maybe one that carries the extra batteries for your optics. Other than that its just a "LOOK" thing. I doubt you'll be doing any buttstroking to haji at the ranges so its purpose for clubbing someone is kinda moot.

The PRS is one of the best as far as full-size stocks go, IMO. For collapsible stocks, there's really no clear winner. The CTR is pretty popular, while I've heard great things about the UBR, though most recommend it for medium- or heavy-weight builds.

Please note that this is coming from someone who's only shot using an A2, PRS, and generic M4-style collapsible stock.

I really like my Sully stock. But it's more for MOUT/CQB than long range use.

All depends on your preference/needs...

CTR, SOPMOD, EMOD, UBR, PRS, A2, Sully, M16... I've used all of those.

They all have their place and best niche.

SOPMOD is still one of my favorites. Can't beat the cheekweld.

I agree, I love my PRS. Adjustable cheek, adjustable LOP, and damn sexy.
