Question Cal Military AW permit, point of contact?

Hello,

I'm active military and would like to get a California military AW permit for some items that are out of state.

The contact at DOJ was Yolanda Garcia @ 916-227-3274. Apparently she is no longer there and the other number gives me nothing. Anyone else have a point of contact?

Stan

Hey bro,
Yea, I just found out today too that Yolanda is no longer there. The proper point of contact is now Carrie, I have her number at home. I'll post it up when I get back later tonight.

Is it true you had to get the permit before you PCS?

Its ok to get the permit after PCSing. DO NOT bring in any AW's until you have the permit approved and in hand. Then go ahead and bring em in during your leave block or what not. Do not bring any high caps either. :P
Sorry, i meant to post the number earlier but some thigns came up.

Quick question.. I am in the military and stationed in CA, but a resident of AZ. Can I go home and buy one and bring it back? I mean could I get a permit first and then go home and buy one? Or do you have to own it first?
thanks

NO.
The provision is to bring in firearms you already owned prior to being stationed here.

For further confirmation call Terry

They ask you for a copy of your PCS Orders, you need to submit fingerprints, Name of Assault Weapon + Serial Number, your address, have you ever been convicted of blah, blah, blah, pretty much the same questions that they ask when you DROS a gun. It costs about 76 bucks I think and the permit is good while you are stationed in CA.

well I got all excited for nothing. imagine going home and being able to bring it here for 75 bucks. it would be worth the drive...

i have my permit in the works at the moment. i'll report everything I find out when I receive a response , God willing

by the way, they don't ask when you bought it, only the serial number, make, and model. don't confuse things.... keep it simple.

I purchased mine after I got here, stored it in my state of residence, and came back here to apply. When it comes through, I will have it brought here.

Well, good luck Ken, I am almost 110% sure that you will get your permit. My wife will be applying for her AW permit for two AR pistols that she has in Arkansas. LOL. We are just waiting to get the Serial Numbers.. Man Can't wait.
