Default Which 40sw? Or 40sw poly 80?

Looking to add a 40sw. I have a 40sw CZ tactical sport but it's a fairly large firearm.

Was thinking a glock 35 or go the poly 80 40sw route but cost wise, it's cheaper to buy then build and I'm concerned with the grey area in doing a glock 80% build.

What's a good 40sw for under $600 and not a subcompact?

So a CZ is too large but you're considering a G35? A G23 is the compact .40. As .40s continue to decrease in popularity, they are fairly cheap to buy used.

The P80 is easy to complete to difficult to do legally with the current laws. My advice at this point would be to avoid it.

Not many compact .40s on roster. CZ Rami, CZ compacts, G23 and Kahr are the only ones I'm aware of.

I forgot to add 'sport'. The CZ tactical sport is a pretty large frame gun I feel.

I like the idea of a glock 35. A xdm 5.25 fits great in my hand, for size reference.

The CZ Tactical Sport is going to be almost identical in size to a G35 in size if not in weight.

Really? Figured the g35 would be narrower but length the same.

Just another 40. Poly as in a poly 80% build but it's at least $100 more than buying a new/used glock.

I second the Beretta 96a1. I have had it for the last 4 months and its a fantastic handgun. This specific gun was built around the 40 S&W, this leads to better reliability and durability. Since the Beretta is aluminum frame it doesn't have as much recoil as say a Glock 22 or an XD 40.

Unless you plan to carry, narrower has no real benefit.

If you plan to carry a .40, a G23 is an excellent choice as they are always on sale and widely discounted used...

I've got a Beretta 96 (old model, pre-A) and I love it. Shoots great, feels great to me, recoil not an issue.

There are also a lot of good choices from Sig - P226, P229, P239. I've got a P239 and it is a remarkable compact. Shoots like full size duty weapon. The 229 and 239 were designed for .40 S&W and .357 SIG from the start and handle them without issues.

G23. G35 with a 9 MM barrel. Or .357 SIG

G22 is good.

If you like your CZ, you can keep an eye out for a CZ P-06 -- basically the P-01 in .40SW.
