Default How To Shoot A Glock

1. Grip gun. Hard and high.
2. Present gun, Focus on front sight.
3. Press trigger straight to the rear.
4. Repeat as necessary.

Oh look. Just like every single other modern pistol known to man. Whodathunkit.

"buT mUh gRiP AngLe" - Shut up. Shut up and get some training.
"BuT muH sTeEl fRaMez" - Shut up. This isnt 1950.
"BUt tHe tRiGgeR" - Shut up. Learn trigger control, and get reps in. The trigger is absolutely just fine.

The Glock 19 is the best damn fighting pistol since the 1911 blew everyones mind 100+ years ago. Get with the times, grandpa, the future is now. If you legitimately cant get your babied coddled dainty hands around a glock 19, grip it like you should, track your sights, and run that gun hard, then you have failed 100% as a "shooter". Period.

and the BS comes. The grip angle does effect comfort. If I don't like the way in feels in my hands I DONT WANT IT! If I get it issued then whatever but I'm not buying what you are selling. I love the size of the 19 and glad CZ and Smith made models the same size but F the glock and it stupidness. Its not comfortable, it is boring (do like the trigger) and it is over rated. Yes trigger matters. Have you shot a gun with a crap trigger? At 50 yards you will see the effects in real life. I shot my M&P 2.0 C in a match last night and I realized in the final stage that trigger was not for me. Ill be upgrading to a flat cause its more responsive to my style of shooting. Oh and I train, been trained and trained other PLUS I just started doing IDPA.

Triggered.

While we're at it, the gen4 and gen5 are both superior to gen3. Read it and weep.

Don't like it? Don't buy/shoot/own one...

So many really bad/ordinary guns out there to dislike and/or complain about...

How much bad real world experience must these goofballs have had with a Glock to feel so strongly?

Hey everyone look at me, I don't like the most popular guns in the world...

Sad ...

But what if I own a glock and a sig, and I'm disliking my glock the more I shoot it? I naturally point my glock high, which I'm not a fan of since it's my CCW. I train with it every week.

You forgot to add squeeze a bag of marshmallows for a half hour to get used to the trigger feel.

Keeping the XD-S, the trigger is tons better than the 23's I have shot.

I prefer the full size 17 and 21SF. The compact frames really do have a different grip angle due to the shorter grip and the bump located higher on the backstrap.

The Polymer80 PF940Cv1 frame with its straighter finger-groove-less grip is a big improvement over the factory frame in my opinion. A poor man's Gen 5, if you will.

Really? You shot ten/five different Glocks and eight/four of them had "issues"?

I have owned over ten Glocks of various generations and only encountered one (g42)

which had teething issues with one brand of ammo (Federal Range Target Practice) when absolutely brand new ...

Do tell what models you shot and what were your issues were ...

I recently got a G19 Gen 3 and at first I sucked hitting paper and was kind of mad I bought it. After about 230 rds in I feel better about the purchase. Trigger and lack of thumb safety took some getting used to as well as grip. I think it's a pretty good universal weapon , by that I mean something to have that you can find mags , ammo just lying around IF the SHTF ever.

Glock isn’t a bad pistol, and it offers a lot of performance and aftermarket support, my Mr Gaston was an engineer with no firearms experience - this is why ergonomics suffered.

G17/19/34
Mostly 9/40ís.
They all had feeding issues from multiple magazines.
Fail to eject.
All of which has led me to hate the gun the more I tried shooting them

shooting from 20 yards, indoor range
G19, shooting almost 1 year, trying so many custom parts and sometimes back to stock parts

CZ SP-01, 2nd range trip, no CGW parts yet

Yes I know G19 doesn't like me...
I don't need "Combat Accuracy", I want 1inch/10yard accuracy to shoot 10 inch steel at 100 yard

My fiancee hates her G26, and she's put about 3K rounds through it, so it isn't for lack of trying. One wonders why she keeps it if she hates it so much... (I still don't an answer for that one). I've fired it and it's... okay. I don't hate it. I just would never buy it... or any Glock for that matter.

Czech yourself before you wreck yourself. The CZ mafia is where it's at.

If you're serious about using a handgun for self defense, you should be able to pick up any handgun and shoot it proficiently. Of course you might prefer one gun over another, but you should never be in a situation where you "can't hit the broad side of a barn" with a particular handgun.

Shooting is fun.

If I'm lucky I get to shoot my Glock twice a year.

Last time I just picked it up for the first time in a year, went to the Richmond Glock match, and placed in the top 10 of 150+.

The equipment platform is irrelevant.
1) Sight Picture
2) Grip
3) Trigger Squeeze

4) There are more aspects to shooting, but generally those three will get you in the X ring at 25 yards.

I've found focusing on "comfort" detracts me from focusing on the fundamentals (mostly getting a positive grip relative to my wrist position). So it all comes down to simply focusing on shooting verses trying to get a gun that I think shoots easier.

Want to shoot easier:
1) Reduce recoil (reload your ammo and install reduced recoil springs)
2) Add weight to the gun that isn't in the slide.
3) Remove weight from the slide
4) Reduce trigger pull to 3lb or less
5) Reduce trigger sweep and rest to minimal lengths
6) add skateboard tape on the grip or something similar

OP......

You do know there is a substantial weight difference between those 2 guns ??

And regarding this Glock thread...
I shoot USPSA, AND IDPA, as well as many other matches.

I have a G41, G35, G34
XDM 5.25, XD .45 Tact, XD 9 Tact,
CZ tact sport in 9mm, and CZ IPSC in .40
And 1911's in both 9mm, and .45

Guess what...they all run fine, they are all accurate, most use factory parts, and will eat anything I load for them.

I don't believe one is better than other....each one has a job.
That's it.

If more people would look at a gun like the tool or piece of equipment it is, then you wouldn't have people freaking out over any of this crap.

Because this .....nobody cares and it doesn't matter.

Buy and shoot whatever you want.

Because THAT is all that matters....the freedom of choice, the freedom to buy a firearm, and the freedom to shoot it however you want.

I love my 43. Shoots very smooth for a polyframe subcompact, and the trigger is fine. I will admit I'm thinking of switching to a 3.5 Lb. connector. But great gun all around.

I love the G19 best total all around gun made IMHO. Something else thatís funny: I see all those good targets being posted. But every time I go to the range I never see anyone shooting targets past 10 yards and it looks like a shotgun pattern. Every weekend itís the same.

Liking a Glock is all fine and dandy, you're entitled to like what you like. Belittling someone who doesn't like them, however is a very petty attitude. What the best fighting pistol is post 1911, is very subjective. I can very debatably rebuke your claims with several H&K models alone.

Me, personally, There are several other firearms i'd take over Glock in several calibers. I can make do with a Glock, but 10/10 times, I will shoot any of the following better out-of-box.

Glock 43: Sig P250, HK VP9, and the Ruger LC9 come to mind.
Glock 42: Bersa Thunder, Ruger LCP2, P-64 with a refined trigger, or some other distinction of Mak.
Glock 21: 1911, H&K USP, HK45, FNX-45.

I see it with the guys I regularly shoot with. Not my target mind you, mine looks like buckshot at 15 yards, while theirs look like the humblebrag pics you see hear at 25y.
