Default WHat Brand AR Style Rifle Military Use?

I'm curious, what model of the AR does our military use. Do they still use the original M16 or has that been replaced by the M4a1? Also, what brands supply arms to the military is it only Colt? I was under the impression MANY companies sell guns and weapon parts for this family of rifles to our armed forces. Does Stag or CMMG Kaiser Defense, or other modern civilian manufactures sell to the military?

I have a Stag 2HT rifle, essentially (has a kaiser defense receiver) how much different is that to what the marines use?

As of right now, Colt makes the M4 carbines in use while FNH makes most of the M16s, M249 and M240s in the inventory.

Most combat arms units I am aware of (Infantry, Cav, Armor) and MPs use M4s. Other troops, who operate in support positions usually have some model of M16 (A2 - A4)

Of course, that's very general. Stag does not make any weapons for OUR military, but if I remember correctly, the Georgian Army adopted a Stag series weapon as it's standard issue rifle right before they went to war with Russia.

Saber Defense has recently won a contract to produce M16s for the military. Also the navy gets some of their Mk18 10.3" SBRs from LMT. Other than Colt and FN those are the only companies I know of that have contracts.

Not the best source (obviously) but wikipedia says the Georgian army has 4000 Bushmaster M4A3s. Theres a link to a UN website that says Georgia has 4000 "M4A3s" imported from the US, no info on mfg.

I bought my lower receiver from the guys at Kaiser Defense in San Diego. They pretty much made it sound like they really ONLY made weapons for the military but they will sell a few SOME to the public. Just wondering if they actually DO?

They may not sell directly to the military as Kaiser, but it's possible they are contracted to produce receivers for either Colt or FNH.

Kaiser also makes chargin handles and receiver extensions (aka- buffer tubes) by the truck load and sends them to a LOT of manufacturers.

Also, KAC has a monopoly on the 7.62 AR game. They produce the SR25 for the Navy and the M110 for the Army.
