Default Davidson's Gallery of Guns / Gun Genie... Trusted?

Hi guys,
I am looking at buying a new Colt Government model, and I noticed that through Davidson's Gun Genie I can get one sent to my nearby shop for a decent price. Have any of you used this system before? Is it trustworthy?
Thanks,
Nic

I bought from them recently. Got a handgun shipped the next day. It was shipped overnight, however, my dealer couldn't "find" the gun. When I told them that it was delivered and signed for, they just told me to call back. Four days after it was delivered, it magically appeared at the gun shop. Nice.

I would definitely use Davidson's again though. This problem was of the dealer. They (Davidson's) are quick and have great customer service (I called them about my problem and they responded quickly and told me who to talk to specifically). They are definitely trustworthy in my book, plus I hear their Lifetime replacement warranty is top-notch!

I've bought through Davidson's before with no issues.

The dealer sets his profit margin upfront so you will see different prices through different dealers. I wasn't charged any "extra" transfer fees, just the normal DROS.

I bought my XD through them a year ago and had no problems. It went so well that I bought my Colt on Davidson's last night.

The # in stock was 19 last night; now it's 15! Get it while you can!

Very convenient and know exactly what you are going to pay is also nice. Also being able to see how many they have helps.

It's as reliable and trustworthy as your FFL.

Basically it is your FFL. Davidsons is a distributor. I buy my products from them and resale it to you. The convenience of the gun genie is that if my customer sees something I don't normally carry. They can order it right there and have it shipped to me. so basically it is just a direct line to my distributor.

Check more than one store near you. Each store determines what markup they want; I've found $50-$75 difference between stores that are just a few miles away from each other. If you're in OC, Ade's seems to have good prices.

Also, watch out for significant price differences. I know Sharpshooters does not add the DROS fee to their price. Just an FYI.

I ordered my first pistols through Davidsons. The transactions were painless, but my FFL said he could get better pricing through other distributors. So it's worth getting a quote from your FFL before ordering through Davidsons.

The retailer sets the price you pay on Davidson's Gun Genie. So, there is never any questions as to what the gun costs. I love this service provided by Davidson's. It allows me to use their HUGE inventory as my virtual showroom. The customer orders, pays a deposit, the gun is sent and I pick up the balance owed from the buyer. Great system.

I even give a couple of percentage points discount for ordering online like this. It save me from laying out my cash for inventory that may just sit on the shelf unsold.

Worked like a charm for me. Check the online pricing carefully, some don't include the dros fee in the charges shown on line. My local guy does, which is super.

And slow, haphazard service...

I think I will be giving OC Armory a try, nice to see a new storefront FFL.

Easiest gun buying I've done in the last 20 years. I go through a local "pawnshop" called Brite Spot Pawn, anyone ever heard of them? They make it as easy as when I go to a place called "Cold War Shooters". Great combination of helpful people.
Think it's getting to be time for sumptin else just don't know what it might be as yet.

The only thing that kinda bugs me about the Gun Genie is that it seems to not actually take into account CA gun laws.

I pulled up a stainless T/C Encore in there, and they were all ready to ship it to one of the local shops.

Except that the T/C I pulled up was a frame and grip package ONLY. It has to come into CA with a barrel to be a single-shot exempt pistol.

Not a HUGE deal, but it does make it so that you have to do your own legal and roster checking beforehand.

Davidson's is a great way to compare prices. Have done business with them when I bought my shotgun. Fast shipping and good prices.

Bump for this necro thread, if you find an out of stock gun get on stock watch. I did so, they emailed me (it goes to a text for me) and I bought the 22/45 I havent been able to find for months. Be fast though, they went from 33 in stock to sold out in a few minutes.

The price they quote is that the final price (except maybe the DROS) or does the FFL add a handling charge or other fee?

No transfer fee, I need to find out about DROS tomorrow (I assume its included) all for a reasonable price, to your local participating FFL. Contact your dealer to be sure. (I am not affiliated, I swear)

Davidsons ROCKS!

I have never had a 'non-rostered' gun ship to me from Davidson's, their system does not allow such a thing. There may be a slip here or there; but with the complexity of CA Law on that issue, they exceed the norm by far!

I have found a handgun once that was in fact on the Roster, and yet NOT on their 'okay for CA list'... I called Chuck, and in a few minutes we had a deal and the gun shipped the same day.

One more thing... their 'Lifetime Guarantee' is the best in the business.

I have had two opportunities to experience this Guarantee, and I can attest to their top notch performance!

In fact the second guy was sittin' right here when he told me the problem, and I said 'cool'... his eyes kinda popped out and I explained. I made the phone call, again while client was here, and BAM... his replacement gun was here THE NEXT DAY!

And their on-line Gun Genie... 'AWSOME!!!'

I'm done... sorry, I just blah, blah, blahhhh... Davidson's ROCKS the planet!

correct, most dealers do charge a transfer fee for transfers from online dealers. But davidson's is different in that you are in effect ordering through your local FFL. YOu pay a deposit to davidson's and then when the gun shows up at the dealer, you pay the balance and the DROS. The dealer sets his own prices at davidson's, so he makes a profit on your purchase from davidson's without having to stock it as inventory.

bought from them several times, they should list the closest 3 dealers and the prices. Davidsons also backs the guns they sell 100% no questions asked.

that is the way it should work. Can't say that every dealer does it the right way.

They need to start shiping with 10 rnd mags on some of their guns.
They don't want to deconfigure what they get so it is hard to get a gun you want that is on the list in Kalifa

Realize that Davidson's is a huge distributor, and swapping out mags can cause issues with their inventory.

If the manufacturers offer the guns with 10-round mags, then Davidson's can sell them. But, Davidson's isn't gonna swap mags around to "make" a CA-legal package
