It's not about guns rusting, it is because there are a lot of new shooters and
running with guns in the mud can get a little too slick. The USPSA clubs at Sac Valley shoot in all weather conditions. I wanted to see if they were going to use any of the new bays. The USPSA club had one stage set up on a new bay, it was great shooting left to right, and back again. Going to be some interesting stages when the bays are done. I'm going to have to loose some weight and get back in shape, new bays are 50 yards deep.

None of the new bays were gonna be used, but we did have some fast high round count stages planned. I'm kinda bummed we didn't get to set them up. Oh well, I still have the designs for later use. We should have a new storage trailer set up for the new bays pretty soon though. Will be nice not to have to haul all the gear from one end to the other and back again.

I think you should shoot whatever the weather like Chabot does

1) It teaches people what it is like to shoot with wet hands on slippery ground
2) It teaches people what gear keeps them dry and warm and what does not.

You an always modify stages by reducing movement etc. to keep things safe. Just put dry cleaning plastic bags over the targets.

True enough, you do learn that. The go/no go call is made by the club president.

Personally, I have shot enough in the rain. I don't enjoy it anymore, it's just miserable no matter how good your gear. If a guy wants to run and play in the mud I say go for it, but I prefer to stay dry unless I don't have a choice.

For any first time shooters to IDPA at Richmond I can see about getting the fee waved for you.

Any Takers if we can make that happen

I know what to wear to keep me dry and warm, and I know what it is like to shoot with wet hands on slippery ground. I just don't like to do it, and I don't like to shoot around new and inexperienced shooters in those conditions. Sac Valley shooting bays are not gravel covered. They get very slick.
Great in dry weather for picking up brass.
Sac Valley has 2 USPSA clubs and the IDPA club. 3 matches per month, so missing one match because of weather is not too bad.
I really would of liked to shoot the high round count stages, we could use some more of those at the IDPA match.

FYI the NCPS match on the 23rd has been moved to the 30th. The 23rd is a work-day on the range. Also, on the 29th there is a 3-Gun match scheduled.
