Is there anything really CA specific on this? Have you guys used up sites like arfcom and ligthfighter and still have unanswered questions?

Cool Is a quicker server available to host CGN?

Maybe it's the volume of members accessing the site at the she time, I don't know. CGN just seems to hang occasionally or won't come up at all (like earlier this morning). Is there an alternative hosting server available for faster access to the forums / threads in the works?

you can already delete a post reply, but you can't delete the initial post in a thread.

I would like to suggest that the Private Firearm Sales forum be split by geographic location, such as northern and southern CA. Since almost all most sales are PPT it would make searching/browsing twice as easy for the majority of CalGunners. Thanks.

What would be nice is to add a "THANKS", or a "LIKE" button, for people who are very helpful to get due credit. There have been many times where someone went WAY out of their way to answer a question, or went into depth on something they could have half-butted and answer on. This has be beneficial on other forums I am a member of for letting helpful people know how helpful they are. (Maybe a button right next to "Quote" that says "THANKS!")

This has been brought up several times but I don't think anybody has responded to this yet. Can we get an admin's opinion on this? I mean either we know this is something that's being considered or it is shot down and we can drop it.

i would like to suggest a thread with all the acronyms that are used in the forums. there are quite a few i still dont know the meaning of. kinda like a glossary of sorts?

ie:
PPT - Private Party Transfer
FTF - Face to Face

unless i am dumb and there is already a thread of sorts and i've completely missed it..

It's been discussed and is generally considered a good idea and will *probably* occur in the near future.

I hate to admit it, but I'm just not up to the task when it comes to posting a pic through a "hosting"? did I say that right? If you could post pics like attachments on e-mail, you'd get a lot more pics to go with comments from guys like me. Granted, I'm probably on the low end of computer savvy for this crowd, but there are a lot of old farts like me out there that know a LOT about firearms, but not much about computers.

Talking MODERATOR FOR A DAY!!!

I think we should have 'moderator for a day'. If you contribute to CG >$50 or so, you get to delete ignorant threads, ban folks for up to 3 days..

I dunno. Sounds like a fun way to earn CG $..... haha

Default Suggestion

I do most of my business locally and privately, but occasionally need to shop for specific parts.
I would really like to be able to use Calguns to look for California shops that sell what I want/need.
Most of the commercial advertisers on Calguns seem to be from elsewhere.
Why?
How about a "California business only" page?
Also the search feature ( like every one, everywhere) never seems to find what I ask for. Might be me, but it sure is a waste of time to use simple, plain English search terms and get no useful results.

I just read a long thread discussing "discounts".
There is a pretty good rule of thumb in my auto repair industry of a 30% mark-up on parts. I have certainly done plenty of business over 26 years and find the mark-ups in the arms industry crazy.
I want to sell stuff, not just warehouse it!
Any comments from FFl business owners appreciated.
Regards, W

I just went through all 14 pages and didn't see this or haven't seen it anywhere on the site and it's probably here but in case it's not.. What about a section for people that are new to guns.. Not just new to cal guns but new to guns in general. I think there would be great opportunity to welcome new people that might be thinking about or might have just picked up their first firearm. Or just people that want to learn about firearms before they make that decision. Also would be a good section for them to post their questions where Knowledgable people can respond to them. Just my thoughts

either look in your subscribed threads or look in the "posts started by diginit" and you should be able to find it right away,.

Default Calguns for Dummys in big JITTERBUG like letters

Not everyone who likes firearms can navigate the site well. I'm feeling retarded because I dont know all the appropriate lingo to send posts, threads, replys. Also acronyms are kicking my but. I'm wondering what ; FFL, DROS, LEO, SBR, PPT etc. are standing for? Sorry, I'm new to
gun ownership. What would help me would be a big red flashing link at the top that says ; BEGINNERS NAVIGATION HELP/TOOLS. So I can go there and figure out what I'm doing, instead of constantly embarassing myself.

Thanks.

Federal Firearm License dealer
Dealer Record Of Sale
Law Enforcement Officer/ L.E. Only
Short Barrel Rifle
Private Party Transfer

But here is a thread on this topic. It is a "sticky" in that it sits at the top of (general gun discussion) forums and never moves from there.

I would like to be able to setup new thread alerts in the Marketplace. For instance, I would like to be able to setup an alert with instant email notification when a new WTS thread with "Ruger Mark III" in the title.

I don't like having to search and scour the marketplace to find that needle in a haystack.

What bothers me is when you go looking at a gallery of pictures is that people will use quote feature and you get the full size photos again and again.

If these photos, once posted only appeared again in thumbnail size then that would make enjoying new posts nicer instead of endless scrolling by previously posted pics.

Keeping with the marketplace theme, here is something I've noticed lately... A lot of people with joined dates of 2012 but have no posts (or less than 5-10) trying to buy stuff in the marketplace.

I have no problem with new members or who you do business with, but a new member who joins simply to use the marketplace without any form of contribution, is frankly insulting and annoying.

Personally, I'm going to buy from or sell to an established member who makes an attempt to contribute, not someone who simply wants to buy something cheap. As others have said, this is not Craigslist, or eBay or some other auction site.

... Just a thought...

Is there a calendar of events somewhere? I see the Calguns booth dates listed but I'm looking for that and more, like a calendar or listing of all shows, competitions, exhibitions, etc. occurring in CA. There's probably 10 or so events statewide every weekend I'm speculating.

How about a chat box?

Sometimes when I come on I have either a question that could use some immediate input or just want to BS with some fellow Calgunners! Sorry if this was already suggested but I tried the search feature and didn't see it.

Thanks

The citadel gun and safe logo advertisement by the quote button on every post in every forum is annoying.
