Default Here's another featureless option

FEATURELESS done a little bit differently. It uses a good number of proprietary parts. It does not use a buffer/spring. It DOES use regular AR magazines. The fact that it uses unique parts could be a negative in respect to parts availability. However, it might also be viewed as a positive if CA ever decides to ban featureless ARs. This shares the gas system of an AR, but its recoil system is more like a shotgun. I haven't shot mine. Reliability reports are very good. Gen 1 triggers are said to be not-so-great. The trigger on this is better than an out-of-the-box mil-spec AR.

Sorry. Yes, it's an Ares SCR. Purchased from Riflegear last month when they happened to have one.

At the point that I can't use AR triggers I kinda prefer my SU16

What I purchased was the lower/stock kit.

http://www.riflegear.com/p-6319-ares...bly-black.aspx

The guys at Riflegear said they've received good feedback on them, but they don't get a lot in stock. I happened to stumble upon it on their website looking for stripped lowers and bought the only one they had at the time.

You need to add your upper and a bolt of your choosing. I also purchased the optional bolt hold open latch for $29.

Based on the reviews I saw online, I was a little worried about the trigger. It is AR-ish, but it's mainly proprietary. The springs might be standard springs. It's not a bad trigger at all. It is a 2-stage with a couple mm of take-up and then a reasonably crisp break. It's not a Geissele, but it's better than OEM AR triggers IMO.

I like it because it reminds me of a gas-version of my Benelli MR-1, which I think is one of the best featureless rifles that uses AR-mags. What this can do that the Benelli cannot, is use any D.I. upper I want to mate it with. I wouldn't consider this to be a good option for someone working with a single AR due to several non-standard parts. However, it has a nice place in a diversified portfolio of firearms, especially with the B.S. we have to contend with in 2017.

The one I looked at at Turners when they first came out had a HEAVY trigger. So heavy it was an instant deal breaker. I also recall the guy working the counter couldn't get something to work on it. I hope they improved it from the one I handled!

I wish ruger would make a Mini-14 so it could use AR mags.

Not as pretty but try the SU16. Similar aesthetics to the SCR and VERY light.

this is the exact reason why they can never "get rid of" the featureless rifle.

It looks like the key piece there is a special bolt carrier that recoils at an angle down into the stock. Very interesting! Put a wood stock on it and DeLeon wont know what to make of it!

Ironically, considering the Democratic political demons that get elected, Californians buy more guns than any other state. There will be a huge market for these kits. Don't worry, they'll get the trigger options in play soon.

Yep...I have come to really like mine. I use it for coyote hunting and my trunk gun when traveling in side CA.

It now has a 18" Proof Reseach carbon fiber barrel....the pics show it with a 16" barrel how I originally put it together.

As far as a Mini 14....lets see. If it was more accurate the 3-4 moa....took AR mags...had a better option for mounting a scope....better trigger....then I guess it would be ok.

If they did, they'd lose the obvious corner they now have on the market with 20's and 30's.

If you want something Ruger that will take AR mags, Ruger does have several choices.

Yes, pretty much any "mil-spec" upper should work.

Remington 1100 stocks fit, Boyds sells them along with wood AR 15 forends. The pilot hold for the ARES spring tube that anchors the stock needs to be opened a bit, but easily done from what I've read. I'm hoping MagPul will come out with something with more of a pistol grip and a higher comb, similar to what they offer for the 870.

They are pretty comfortable to hold, and the new trigger is actually pretty good imo. I'd get one but I don't really need another lower.
