Just really enjoyed this article; naturally I thought of sharing with you guys... By the way,

I'd love to own one in the original caliber.

Good luck getting one. They run more exspensive than most of the cheaper FA guns out there. There was one on Gunbroker a year or so back with a spare of EVERY part except the receiver, original box, import paper work, and original receipt of purchase as well as the bipod, scope, and a dozen or so of the mags. Went for a VERY pretty penny.

ETA: There was also something special about the AMT that I can't remember now. It may have been the rifle that essentially had a machine gun action that was restricted to be semi-auto only, even in the military but I can't remember now. Dang, now I'm going to have to look into it further so I can put my mind at ease over what it was...

They were sold on the civilian market with original FA receivers with Semi parts built into them.
They were $3k back when G3s were $1400. Awesome weapon.

Think Ammobros has one in their display. Just a little under 5k.

Neat rifles. I love the beer-keg charging handle. Looks like a K31 leftover.
