Can anyone recommend handguards for a 7.5" upper? It has the A2 fsb which I do not plan on removing, so they have to be short (~4"). I know of the YHM Mini and the Samson one. Any others? Thanks in advance.

Haha like the shoes. My upper is a 10.5" sabre defense upper with a 10" Midwest induestries free float with a low pro gas block, it uses a carbine length gas system for great reliability. Rails are covered by magpul xtm covers and it is all topped off with a noveske kx3. Shoots like a dream

Anyone have any input in getting a 10 1/2" over a 7 1/2" upper and vice-versa?

a 10 1/2" is my next buy LOL, but first my rifle lower needs an upper before that...

But seriously though, so far my 7.5 build has about 300 rnds so far with NO failures of any kind. But i have heard that the 10.5 is more reliable O.o

Wicked pistol! I'm just curious if 'someone' might consider the buffer-tube a 'stock' because it has an actual check rest mounted on it? If so that would be bad in a lot of ways. But then again, I might just be being paranoid (this state makes you that way)

The anatomy of a gunstock. 1) butt, 2) forend, 3) comb, 4) heel, 5) toe, 6) grip, 7) thumbhole

A stock, also known as a buttstock or shoulder stock, is a part of a rifle or other firearm, which the barrel and firing mechanism are attached to, that is held against one's shoulder when firing the gun. Stocks are also found on crossbows though a crossbow stock is more properly referred to as a tiller.[1]. The stock provides a means for the shooter to firmly support the device and easily aim it. The stock also transmits recoil into the shooter's body.
there is no way a cheekrest can be fired from the shoulder... so by that definition NO.

Cool! Nice job on the whole gun and the explanation! (Just be prepared with that explanation to any overly zealous, uninformed range master or LEO!)

Hey, I'm moving to CA from out of state. Can I buy a semi-auto AR pistol before I move and bring it in, as long as I have a bullet button and a 10 round mag?

Yes you can, you just have to notify DOJ and pay $19.00 fee.

Has anyone on the board actually done this registered the single shot to a 10 rounder? How long does it take before DOJ sends the actual paperwork. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Default hey

is that a carbine length vltor system. where can i find one priced right. For my last 2 AR PISTOL builds, before i move onto ak pistols, i was thinking of doing a vltor rail with flash pig. and a pri tube with a flash pig. Both in 9mm. Not sure if i want the rail length to be carbine or midlength. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Here's my custom built ar pistol upper.

Parts:
Henderson Defense upper receiver
KX3
MI carbine length FF
DPMS 7.5" barrel
daniel defense lo pro gas block
RRA BCG/CH, pistol buffer tube, 2 stage LPK
Mega pistol lower
LMT iron sights

Had a chance to shoot it today at an indoor range. But it double fed on the 5th round. Could this be the carbine buffer and spring, too light? Would an H2 buffer be more reliable? I'm using a magpul 10/20, brand new mag. Only had a chance to fire 8 rounds before the RM asked if i was certified to shoot these rifle rounds. I was at an indoor range. It cost $20 to have a rifle safety card. And its good for 2 years.

Last edited by HkUSP45; 05-10-2009 at 8:03 PM.. Reason: indoor range policy

indoor range that allows 223?? Where?

I always have to swap out the bolt to 22lr or 9mm. They won't allow 223 at any indoor ranges in L A

Yep, they allow .223 at LAX indoor range, it's located, well, over by LAX... you have to use/buy their frangible ammo, but you can shoot .223 there. I know, I have.

Yeah, it's not somewhere you want to go blast off a couple hundred rounds, but it's an okay spot to take someone that has never shot an AR before. I even took my Saiga-12 there and they didn't have a problem with it (they also allow shotguns with low-recoil buckshot.) I'm not sure exactly what the prices are (I've actually never checked the break-down on the bill) but it really didn't seem outrageous. Give it a shot - here's their website!
