Nice I was thinking about this on my next pistol build. Altought I'll try to build a .40 cal. This only work for Oly upper right? I saw the prototype of the magazine a long time ago but this is the first time I saw one on an actual AR.

The magazine looks too long. Do you have any pic of a magazine side by side with a 30 rnd AR magazine? Just want to have an idea on the lenght difference.

Yes this would only work for Oly uppers. Sorry for the crappy Iphone pics but you get the picture. Here are the CA legal 10 rounder magblocked AR vs Oly pistol caliber mag comparisson. The Oly mag is about 9" since its single stack while the regular shorter 7" AR mag is double stack. Hope this helps you decide your future projects. I may opt out for the .45 later since the mags are a lot cheaper now vs the Uzi mags that were selling for $200 bones each.

Adco will drill your upper for the Olympic style ejector. So if you like building you don't have to put the money down on a complete Olympic upper. Btw, how'd you guys get ahold of those new Olympic pistol mags?

I had 3rd party buy it directly from Olympic Arms from out of state & send it behind the lines as parts kit.

Those with foam on their pistol tube:

How do you get enough clearance to manipulate the charging handle without marring/damaging the foam?

I had to cut down the foam with a razor blade....its ugly as all hell but now I can work the charging handle without resistance.

With a standard charging handle there is plenty of clearance. With the PRI Gas Buster however, it hits. That is because the gas buster has a different shape, with much more material, and hangs down lower. But a standard charging handle, no problem.

I'm glad that you and jonni (a few posts up) like this pistol. It took almost two years of searching to put this together. The original Colt parts came from the usual sources like the Equipment Exchange on arfcom or from Gunbroker. The only parts of the upper assembly that are not original are the small round gas seal (reproduced from an original part) that connects the gas tube and the gas port in the barrel, and of course I'm using a standard bolt carrier and not the original open bolt version.
And yes, sometimes I am a lucky bastard ;-).

Here's a parts layout. The buffer plate was modified to look more like an original since this photo was taken.

Now does anybody know where I can get a Bradley?

Has anyone tried using a rifle length receiver extension instead of the carbine length receiver extension for one of these pistol builds?

People do it all the time. It looks fine. YHM makes a foam cover for their stocks that you can buy seperately that slips over it nicely and looks great. It does not cover the entire tube, but most pistol ones only cover part of the tube anyway.
