I'd sure like to have one of those! Beautiful!

Can someone educate me on how these pass legal muster, being that the magazine is in front of the trigger and the overall length seems to me to be an SBR? Not doubting that you guys have thoroughly looked into this, I just need to be brought up to date if someone is so willing.

Thank you,
Barry

If it never had a shoulder stock, it never was a rifle, and if it was never a rifle, it can't be a short-barreled rifle.

As for the magazine being in front of the trigger, there is no law against that. There is a AW reg that states that semi-automatic pistols that have a detachable magazine that is not located in the pistol grip is an AW. But these pistols do not have detachable magazines, so that AW reg does not apply. Look at the handgun flowchart to see how the laws apply to the legality of the handgun, http://www.calguns.net/caawid/hgflowchart.pdf

Have there been any challenges, confiscations, charges or convictions on this?

Thanks again,

Thanks Nino for taking this shot of my AR Pistol yesterday. Glad you liked it, I found out I need to run a Heavy Buffer, that is why it was Short Storking

Nice shot, I see my Draco underneath it too!

This might have been discussed before but what are the legalities of CAA saddle to be construed as buttstock on a pistol? I like to put one on my 2nd pistol.

I would THINK its ok since it does NOT alow you to rest it on your shoulder like a BUTTSTOCK would.

What we really need is a letter or official definition of what DOJ considers a BUTTSTOCK once we have that we can say

see its not a buttstock per... exibit A

anything like that out there???????????

The saddle in the eyes of some people say that is it a stock, others do not see it that way. As far as a letter from DOJ/ATF regarding them I have not seen one yet.

To me it is not a stock as per the reading of a stock. It is simply a cheek rest, also now that I have my own AR Pistol I have found it to be to close to my face to try and use the end of the buffer on my shoulder. You cannot get a good view on the rear site, I forgot my EOTech at home and used my AR Pistol with only MBUS' on it and I came tot he conclusion that putting the rear of the buffer tube on my cheek was the sweet spot.

Anyways, be careful when out because some people do not know about the Legality of AR and AK Pistols. I have been asked several times now, and even a good friend of mine was out with both types. For his AK they would not allow him to use 10 round mags, but had no problems with hium using 10 rounders in his AR Pistol

Yeah, I agree that this is very subjective & I do like shooting my 5.56 pistol on my cheek that's why I like the idea of a CAA saddle for more comfort. Just the fact someone misconstrues that as a stock & cause more HA than the cool factor & better cheek piece than just the foam & I'm seeing a lot more of this now.....Thoughts?

Foam, paracord, and even rubber cane tips have all been approved by the ATF. Frankly I don't see what the CAA saddle does that none of those don't do.

It already has a mil-spec bolt carrier assembly.

Right now I am using a standard buffer, I did not know it needed a Heavy Buffer

So right now I am not sure if the mil-spec bolt carrier assembly is meant for FA or not. You would it was since all of the parts on the PWS Diablo are top notch Well at least in my book they are

Anybody know where I can get an AR pistol lower in Southern Cal, ideally Ventura County or the Valley?

Feel free to PM me with any suggestions if you don't want to post on the public forum.

Thanks.

all my research, and I did a ton, on this issue came down to needing either a full auto BCG (as they are a little heavier) like the LMT or a heavier buffer... but not both.

your BCG being "mil-spec" does not necessarily mean it is a heavier full auto BCG, agreed?

the issue was needing a little extra weight, which is why I specifically got the LMT full auto as it is noted to be a bit heavier and was mentioned by others as a top notch BCG and great for an AR pistol. OR you get a heavier buffer to kick back... but again, I never read that both are needed to address short stroke.

I opted for a higher quality BCG, over a heavier buffer, as the better quality BCG part was money better spent - more of course - than a heavier buffer.

try OC Armory as they have/had complete built AR pistols on the wall..

I know you want a lower, but just FYI. In the case of an AR pistol, it would be cheaper to buy it all built than build it like I did. Also, as an AR pistol, it needs to be sold as complete working pistol in CA... so not sure how easy it is going to be to find just a lower in CA. That is why many of us sent parts out to state to an FFL to put on a lower of choice to then send back as the complete pistol.

Can someone explain to me why an AR "pistol" requires a bullet button? reason why I ask is that I don't know of any semi auto pistols w/ magazine that requires some sort of device disabling the mag from being realized so why does an AR pistol require one? it is a pistol isn't it, or is there some sort of made up classification for a evil type pistol?

Should have my first pistol build on the range by mid March. Its a 7.5" upper and I'm wondering what kind of accuracy to expect. It has Lother Walther Barrel so I figure the potential is their for some decent groups just curious if with such a small package I can expect to hit a 10" plate at 200 yards. I started shooting my rifles with the stocks collapsed and not resting on my shoulder to practice just cheeking the buffer tube, and can ring the crap out of the plate even with my M&P15-22. If I can do it with my .223 pistol I'll be thrilled.
Thanks in advance.

What upper did you go with? Sounds like the PWS DC7 So far 100 yard steel silhouette is the furthest I attempted and hit with only mbus as a sight for me. I have Diablo, test vids of the Diablo show it hitting 300 meter center mass shots with a high power scope. Not sure if that helps out or not but I can see a 200 yard plate boinging with a decent optic.
