I am also doing a CAA saddle.. already have it.

You can find such killer deals on the Magpul BUIS in a pair for 85-90$, thats cheap and heck, we all know, they never really get used anyway.

Mine will have some color. Doing Magpul FDE colors as I have been wanting to do a little color.

Like the Stark? I have one. I was one of the first 10 or so guys to get them when they released them back in Juneish.. I like mine, hard to beat a winter trigger guard and grip all in 1 and in a cool look.

I am definitely going with the Magpul BUS from Tunis of course can't beat his pricing, just waiting to sell off some items. All of my money lately has been going to Christmas gifts so I've got to move other items that I have not used.

Since I'm in a poor spot right now with no means of employment I might even do that cheap flashlight and scope ring idea, seeing that I have a ring laying around and a Streamlight Scorpion buried somewhere in my glove box...

I do like the Stark, I like that they added the sling options, so I opted for the QD hole...

I didnt even notice the new generation Stark with the QR swivel. sticks out to far for me as I like lower profile sling mounts, but cool integration nevertheless

I use my KAC buis on my M4 all the time. It's faster to flip it up and shoot than to turn on the aimpoint and get it to the right brightness setting. I'd rather use the red dot, but it is not always on, and some times you just don't have time to dilly-dally. Real life is messy. My problem with the MBUS is they break OFTEN. Getting them installed without breaking them is pure luck more than anything else. Had them break simply pushing them onto the rail. And forget about real life applications, running and gunning and diving for cover. Put too much weight or pressure on them at the wrong angle and they will break off. You would be surprised how knocked around your rifle gets when it is more than a bench rest beast. The base is too thin where it meets the rail. Had them break more than once on me. Don't trust them on anything but a bench rester. Don't get me wrong...dig Magpul. It is just the MBUS has a serious design flaw. Cheap as they are...a broken sight does you no good.

That said, they sell like hot cakes. So I still sell them. It is simple supply and demand. I can't pass moral judgements on what my customers want to buy. If they want it, and I can get it...I sell it.

but if price is an issue and it is something or nothing.. those Magpuls are hard to beat and I would take something. I have GG&G and YHM and they can often be pricer for 1 then an entire set of Magpuls.. but thanks for the heads up on them.

Great price...I agree. Plus I am told they are redesigning them, at least the rear sight. This is a result of a law suit from A.R.M.S. I would assume they would address the breaking issue at the same time as coming up with a pattern that meets the terms of the settlement.

A.R.M.S. sues everybody and their brother with any product even remotely close in design to theirs. They have even targeted vendors like my self on ebay for selling products from other vendors they have issue with. Very annoying. A.R.M.S. makes great products, just wish they were not such a bully. Recently they changed their policy on ebay from automatically reporting you without warning, to politely requesting you take down listings on your own which they feel violate their copyright. I consider that a HUGE improvement and am thus no longer boycotting them. Everyone's letters and complaints worked.

not to sure if I would keep your KAC handstop/sling mount on there...or mount it on the side.

Why not? It's a safety device so not to shoot your fingers off! In not way can it be misconstrued as a VFG. I mounted a flashlight instead since I am running a 7 inch bbl.

This is a 'Gray' area for me. We are all aware that the majority of LEO are not the most knowledgeable with regards to OLL laws not to mention AR pistol legalities. It would be very easy for a LEO to make issue with the saddle as a buttstock. So with that said, If you are a gambling man... go ahead and attach what ever you feel is legal on the AR pistol buffer tube. Just make sure you have a great 2A attorney on retainer

on the Troy Extreme Battle Rail, there is no mount hole for a QR sling mount on the inner portion of the rail - like on my YHM for example.

but I have noted that of the 3 bolt on rails they give, the 4" one, the rail on the bottom that the KNC is attached to, you do have a QR hole there.

but either way, I would have to remove that font flush Magpul ladder chunk to mount it IF I even ever wanted to use it, whch I doubt I will as I have rear SALP sling mount.

I was just trying to give people a heads up about the use of rail ladders w/ KNC swivel mount.

Its a pack I picked up at the last Costa Mesa Crossroads.
Not bad for 40 bucks! Not US made, but the quality is pretty good still.

" why run the CAA saddle backwards ? "

the reason I asked was not to be critical of your build, hey if it works and you like it then so be it, i do see your note on photos, But I was thinking it might have been the reason the charging handle wouldn't slide as you described in your build notes . . .

till44, how do you like the 11" upper? it seems folks prefer teh shorter ones. I'm debating this myself. 7" or 10" hmmmm. I'm thinking the 7" right now.

FYI anyone one want to loan a fellow CG'r a bobsled? PM me if you have one sitttin arround, you will get it back.

Has anyone converted a regular mag to a single shot to get past the rules?

I have a sled I would consider loaning BUT consider buying one of these - it is as cheap as us sending a sled back and fourth AND you get something you can actually use in the future. I made a sled, but then ended up doing this on my build and didn't use my sled.

as for 7 or 11, I took the 7 route as I wanted a pistol, not so much an SBR which is what I felt like 11 was. I wanted as small and light as possible.

My first upper was a 7.5 barrel. It was fun, compact, loud, and had huge fireballs but not accurate. I wanted to hit targets accurately at 50 yards without having to bench rest the gun. The 7.5 was also a bit more finicky with cheap russian ammo. I bought a 10.5 that was a big improvement and just recently upgraded to the 11.5.

I love this gun. It is a blast to shoot drills with, as it is fast on target, light, and easy to manuever. I may get another 7.5 down the run for strictly a "range toy" but the 11.5 or 10.5 is way more practical if you want a gun that will perform. But that's just my opinion...

Glockthis, Thanks, I went ahead and modified a 10 rnd mag. Pulled out the fallower and dremelled it into a bland shape. Took the spring out installed a block to keep the fallower tight to the top of the mag lips. done. took it to teh ffl and they said it was good to go. sent it to aws in Wyoming. Cory will intall the seld and the bb. put on my new DC7 upper from pws bought from DCG arms, and now I just wait.

Thanks till44, what kind of upper was your 7"? I did go ahead and buy pws DC7 "Diablo" without the Vltor mur upper receiver. It got good reviews for accuracy. I will let you know how she shoots. It's nice to know someone is doing drills with there "little evil's", I am looking forward to running mine through a couple of my pistol and carbine curriculum's to see how she fairs. Hopefully, I'll be able to come up with a course for these bad boys something like you would find with an smg.

It was a mix of parts. RRA upper, ER Shaw barrel, YHM rail and FH, and BCM BCG. I'm sure you'll have no problem with the "Diablo". I think my main problems just came from short stroking due to weak ammo.
