Default 1958(ish) Singer Spartan 192k Industrial sewing machine (LA)

I just realised that I don't really have a place to store my singer spartan at my new appartment and I don't want to pay to ship it to new york (its heavy)

It is complete and works the motor/brushes could probably stand to be cleaned, but other than that it is in tip top shape.

I got it because I wanted to sew leather stuff (guess what for ) and todays sewing machines can't touch the spartan's all steel construction/industrial application design.

The motor is original, the pedal is not but seems to work well enough.

No needles or thread included, but it does include the bobin and carrige.
this is a very compact, very well built little unit.

$100 obo FTF in LA

I'm interested in it....
Any pics to share?
Have you ever tried to sew leather with it, and if you did, what weights were you successful with?

Thanks,

//Ben

I'll borrow the camera from work tomorrow so I can take some pics, I haven't used it to sew anything, I just set it up, made sure everything was working properly and then put it away.

Basicly I never had my leather and my sewing machine in the same place (either the leather or the machine was in storage so it just didn't happen)

If you mounted one of the singer hand crank adapters (most singer accessories are interchangable) you could probably punch through a considerable amount of material, (I don't know if I'd run heavy latigo with only the electric motor powering it, you need quite a bit of power to punch through cleanly on some of that stuff)

but hey, its all specualtion, I never had a chance to use it to make the slings/bags/holsters that I wanted to.

I'll post pics tomorrow.

I'm going to be trying to go up to fresno before I leave but I don't know for sure yet.

Even If I do make it up north I don't know if I'll have any extra time, (I'd be making a special trip to work on some guns... and that will probably take up all my time)

I'd prefer FTF on this, although it could probably be shipped for about $25 if you really HAD to have it.
