How does a Remington 597 stack up (assuming you get it to be reliable...)

Depends on the glass, ammo and shooter. If it'll hold 1" at 50 yards you'll be fine. That said I helped a shooter get on the 400 yard buff with one a couple of weeks ago - was hitting it 3 out 5 or so before the end of the day.

That's great Bill, way to go! This kind of publicity could get a whole new sport started.

Thumbs up

Nice article! Great to see this match and APS get some good coverage. I'm looking forward to the next 22LR match. I've also told other shooters about it and some are very interested to attend the next match. I have a feeling the next match will fill-up fast.

Good stuff guys. We just had a match director from the High Power side join NCPPRC to run a dedicated 22 rim fire match. Things are in the works and hopefully it will be up and running by this winter.

Going to be nice not having to reload.

I saw that advertised a couple of weeks ago and am considering getting it for maybe next season, though I have to wonder how it would stand up to matches - people don't always hit the target so I have to wonder about the front cover as well as the slats holding the target.

Have Kurt cut you a sheet of AR500 in 3/8ths.

I'm a traitor to Long Range shooting. I just spent 1K on a used Browning Superposed Lightning O/U shotgun

spend your money however you like to spend it on.

sounds like you got a killer skeet shotty.

i'm thinking with a .22lr, i can at least shoot every weekend again with no reloading chores to do. i got two pistols left in my safe. got to decide which one has to go.
