"Public Safety and Recreational Firearms Use Protection Act"

Now that is just some shady s*** right there, it is like they are just trying to piss the opposition off by coming up with ever more deceptive ways to impose their will.

Republicans are on board and people tell me a vote for Obama is any better.

The whole country's going to the garbage heap.

this thing is a little bit confusing it says that appendix A is exempt and so are pump, lever, and bolt guns. So why do they bother listing all of those action in appendix A? is there something i am missing?

Did the federal ban always have the LEO exemption?
------------
This has got to be a purely political, "at least we tried" thing to make people blame SCOTUS for Heller and and not put anything on Congress.

These SOB's don't want to forsake us, they want to own us. Look every politician in the eye and you'll see that they want to DOMINATE, DICTATE, and CONTROL us. When all of you subjects get in line, then and only then will our politicians be happy. This state in particular has gone too far to the left to ever be brought back to center by lawful political process. IMHO, it's either revolt or pack up and leave. Do any of you actually think that there is one stinkin politician that actually gives a damn about what you want as an individual citizen without the question of "How will it play to the voters come my election time"? Anyone know what the definition of w*h*o*r*e* is?

Appendix A is full of semi-auto "sporting" arms like the Browning BAR hunting (not the M1918) rifles.

Read carefully, firearms in appendix A are exempted:

‘(3) Paragraph (1) shall not apply to--

‘(A) any of the firearms, or replicas or duplicates of the firearms, specified in appendix A to this section

All those listed firearms are not banned, they are exempted.
That probably how they think they can get the firearms protection thing into the title.

The only ones doing any "firearms protection" is the Supreme Court.

With SCOTUS ruling in the Heller case, does anyone thing the attempt to bring back the federal ban will succeed and if so, be shot down in court?

Let's not get our panties in a twist about this:
  • This doesn't have a chance in hell passing; the pro-/anti- skew in congress
won't change much from now even if Obama + Obamamama are elected.

  • McCain will NOT sign it. He did not sign the Fed AWB and has repeatedly spoken
    against such idiotic bans.

  • In 2004 Bush spoke for signing Fed AWB "if it were delivered to his desk". He and
Karl Rove (who would be right in the middle of this) of course knew it wouldn't be.

  • The comments about McCain vs Obama race being irrelevant to gun rights is insane.
The next President will most likely be nominating one or more Supreme(s) to replace
    a retiree/vacancy.

McCain is far more likely to nominate a Scalia-like originalist, than a "living document"
    type the Obamoids would like.

    Heller
passed by 5-4; wouldn't it be nice to have a more comforting margin on future cases?
