Default Real old ARMY gun!

By COLT from 1918--finish is pretty motled, has all original parts, including
barrel which has a PERFECT bore--hard too find in the days of corrosive ammo! Functions flawlessly--90 years old--amazing. Wrong mag for those
of you who know your 45s!!

Nice piece! Take good care of it, you got a piece of American history there....

I got my from this old fella who's wife inherited it from her father. He served in the war WWI at the age of 16. Since he was to young for the front line they made him a messenger boy and had him ride a bicycle. He couldn't carry a rifle so they gave him this gun. This is the gun that brought him home.....
look it even has notches...

do you know your guns history?
unfortunately, the husband does not believe that a gun should be considered a family heirloom nor in their household so he practically gave it to me.

based on serial number original 1911 Army issued manufactured 1918

Those are both some nice pieces of American history...if they were mine they'd be safe queens or in a display case. If I did end up shooting them they'd get overhauled: new finish, new parts, new grips etc.. thats just me I cant stand shooting old collectible guns, so when I do I make them look like new

Thats a "killer" 1911. Sorry I could not help myself since we were talking about the notches.

Buy the way I wish I could find a piece of history like that to hide in my safe.
Congrats gentlemen.

I've got one from 1918 also but it was bubba'd It's even a WW2 rearsenal and has a Savage slide on it.
Lord, make my hand fast and accurate.
Let my aim be true and my hand faster
than those who would seek to destroy me.
Grant me victory over my foes and those who wish to do harm to me and mine.
Let not my last thought be 'If I only had my gun."
And Lord, if today is truly the day you call me home, let me die in an empty pile of brass.

I was just looking at my old 1911 today. According to serial number, it was manufactured between 10/24/1918 and 04/10/1919. It looks like it has been through quite a lot, and I am sure it probably has. As someone said earlier, "If only it could talk..."
