Very nice. Loving the flat MSH, plan to do the same thing when more money arrives.

Thnks! I sometimes had issues not engaging the grip safety but the flat MSH had helped keep that from being a problem.

Time of Ownership: 8 Months
Rounds this trip: ~450 Round Count: ~1500 Alrightttt........ Well I finally got (back) out to the range to run this thing in its latest iteration and had a blast. Went through about 400rds of Remington gold and had these FTFires I would pull the trigger, *click*, pull back the hammer, *click* and then finally dump it. I had solid strikes on the rims so I am chalking these failures (as with my previous failures) all on the ammo. I also had one FTFeed (which is a magazine loading issue, not a GSG issue). Shot 50rds of Blazer and had 0 failures. Maybe i’ll pick up some bulk boxes of federal next weekend @ the SJGS to try out on my next trip. Using the #2 sight, I noticed if I lined up my target just above the tip of the front sight I was dead on. I was hitting the 6” swinger (although it wasn’t swinging) on my hostage target @ 15-20yrds every time. Had a blast, these were the only pictures I took as I was too busy shooting. Also had fun with the 12ga, and the .45. Next trip will hopefully be on Tuesday - I love this thing.

Getting mine out of jail in 10 days, and because of reading your post I'm going to buy the bushing and a guide rod, but now I'm curious. Mine says gsg 1911 CA on the slide and the barrel looks like it can accept a compensator, but my question is, if I heat the barrel with a heatgun, will that melt the solder so I can remove the cap and with the same solder put in the CW compensator? Also I'm thinking about taking the slide and removing the paint so I can display bare aluminum and I want to polish the barrel. Now all I need is some sweet looking grips!

Just remember you have to have the compensator perm attached to the threads just like the cap was or you’ll have the makings for a AW pistol.

Rounds this trip: ~300 Round Count: ~1800 Took the GSG out again today, still haven’t cleaned from the last trip (friday) but it ran like a singer. Was shooting down south @ Laguna Seca: The GSG looking down range. I am still running Rem Gold because I have a ton of this stuff. Shot between 300 - 400rds and these where the only issues: 1 FTFire (ejected and struck 3x in 3 different parts of the rim). The other 2 were FTFeeds - just ejected them and kept shooting. Hopefully I will make it out one more time during this week but the rain may dampen that goal.

I'm so glad I decided to purchase the GSG. It has held up better than expected after a few simple mods.
I've ran this thing hard and have about 1K rounds down with NO major issues. Another satisfied customer Hey Ubermcoupe!! Did you stick with the #2 sights? I haven't switched mine off yet but I'm curious as to whether you have found the other sight set-ups to be more accurate.

I did. If I cant the front sight just below the level horizon of the rear sight I was dead on with everything from 7 yrds out to 30+ yrds. The Match bushing probably helps also. :P

cancel that, i found a barrel bushing that has a compensator as well, even though its for the .45 im hoping it doesnt throw the balance off too much so that it still cycles properly. someone else messaged me saying that if i permanently attach a comp to the barrel id never really be able to clean the gun or replace parts. anywho, im on the hunt for finding a spring plug either bare or with a clever design. i might be able to get in engraved at my local swapmeet.

Not sure where you can steel in SD (except suggesting BLM land) but be sure to post pictures and show off your new addition!

AMAZING!!! Just ran 524 flawless rounds thru my new baby, she ran like a champ, I didn't clean her which I should have done but I was too anxious to go shoot, only had one round that didn't fire and I struck the rim 3 times different spots so I'm assuming it was a dud. Anyways it did shoot alittle to the right at 10 yards, other then that I went shot thru 524 rounds with 4 mags in under two hours. I gotta say it's a keeper. Now time to find some sweet grips and that extended barrel bushing compensator I always wanted!

I won't post pictures till I do something unique to it, the barrel bushing compensator combo I ordered should be here in a week or two but Im really looking forward to stripping all the paint off the slide and rocking bare aluminum!

Oh yeah, I decided to not order the guide rod or bushing till I tested the pistol out and I did check to see if my bushing is magnetic and it is, but my guide rod is non magnetic and it appears to be aluminum, also it has a cross shape going all along the shaft so I don't know if I have a good guide rod or one prone to fail, the guide spring is even on both ends so that's the new one and I have a hard plastic washer and a black thicker and smaller metal magnetic washer that fits around the guide rod, also the barrel seems to have a bevel now to guide the guide rod into its original place.

Time of ownership: 3 days
Round count: 1300 Rounds this trip: 250 So I went shooting yesterday and again today at American shooting center in clairemont, I WAS happy that my pistol WAS reliable up until my 1320 shot were my slide was stuck from a round not ejecting, then the rounds weren't chambering, then a FTE, so after a good guy pointed out that it might be dirty I stripped it down right there in my lane, I used some hoppes oil and some rags and cleaned the metal where the slide slides, and all the other stuff, after that it shot like new. Still trying to figure out the sights since I have it centered by moving the rear sights to the left, but it still shoots high, so should I use the lower front sight or higher front sight that I got with the gun? |

I just made a video (a long one lol) about my GSG 1911, how to take it apart, clean it etc, most important though... I had over 90% failure rate with mine... and how I made it shoot with 100% success rate. This only applies to brand new GSG 1911's so doesnt really apply to you, but here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DNGNSG-zdCI in case someone with problems stumbles upon this thread. |

Well I went ahead and ordered this
<IMG>http://i.imgur.com/V6fMX.jpg<IMG> Hopefully with the added weight it will still cycle. There's a couple of shops around San Diego that sell barrel bushings just incase mine breaks. Also how do you get in contact with ati? I tried calling and emailing and still no reply after one whole week! |

23rd May 2012 UPDATE
UPDATE!!!
2000 or so rounds 10 months ownership. Another 398 rounds without issue. I have 2 rounds that didn’t fire and tried them twice and I am still using the last of my Remington gold. I am not sure if anything has changed since the last time I took my GSG out by my sights were dead on. I was consistently hitting a 5 or 6 inch metal round @ 12-15 yds. I do want to change my grips but that is more cosmetic then necessary. The one thing that I will be tackling before I got out next time is fitting my thumb safety. It has been stiff ever since I put it in and since I am running out of things to “fix” on the GSG I will just move straight into “tinkering” with it. More to come soon. Links for thumbsafety fitting: http://www.brazoscustom.com/magart/0601.htm http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=589730

Well I guess I am just GSG crazy today!
While cleaning I decided to junior gunsmith my thumb safety and it got it pretty smooth - I like it! I did notice a few more issues though. There is visible marring around the slide stop: Not sure what to make of that or whether I should worry. Has anyone else noticed the same?

Hey Uber,
Slight marring in slide stop area, and slight paint wearing towards front due to slide rub. Other than that, shoots like a champ. Pleasantly surprised. Everyone I go shooting with love to shoot this pistol due to the ammo and look/feel.

I am getting more and more noticeable holster wear from drawing and holstering but that is why I picked this pistol up. With the bushing and the GR it really does run Uber sweet.

And of course I recommend a different bushing. A Match/Fitted bushing will keep your groups more consistent than stock- at least that is what happened with mine.
