Have you guys been in touch with Solar Tactical out in Livermore? They were doing build parties a while back, and as far as I know, they still are. Might be worth a call.

I will be doing some build parties soon. it all depends on my sons football schedule. In the mean time I am still doing private builds, barrel populating, parkerizing, and Duracoating.

For those trying to setup AK or AR build parties, a word of warning...

Build parties are extremely frowned upon by the "authorities". "Antis" try to join these build parties to try and prove that "undocumented" evil black rifles are so easily made. Just be careful fellas make sure anyone who joins are sincere.

I say you have to have a minimum number of posts to attend a BP to weed out the trolls.

I miss BP's.

Sounds reasonable. Hope you guys can get something setup and help each other get your rifles done. Again, just be careful.

damn right we actually build our ak's, not drill some holes and assmble their ar's!(which ar's are the only one under the scope, and got C&D letters, for using milling machines and doing no acutal work to build it, just pressing a button.) took me 12 hours to do mine at a build party(first one) and it still wasnt "done"

I was hoping to join a BP in Orange County at some point in the near future, but it sounds like they're pretty scarce these days. Sucks!!
Would "antis" just give everyone a hard time, or do they have some legal footing against personal builds these days???

Not a build party but you can contact Nicoroshi on calguns and he can do a 1 on 1 tutoring. He does a great job and has great equipment for you to get your parts kit together. Hes part of the ak build team. I got my kit put together and it turned out great. East Bay. Drop him a pm.

Guys, please be careful. ATF already sent out Cease & Desist letters last year for 80% AR-15 lower build parties, which is why those don't exist anymore (or will be VERY risky to attend). And, as Bsandoc40 pointed out, there are weasel f**kers out there like this douche bag ~ Bryan Schatz, who will join you guys and then sh*t on your dinner table.

Honestly, I think a garage Skype session is the best bet.

More like this state than this country (currently anyway).
And to answer your question:
It's a four letter word that starts with 'S' and ends in 'T', and it smells bad.

I was advised by those in the know that accepting any kind of payment for tutoring/ use of tools or shop right now could be seen as manufacturing without a license by the Alphabet crew.
I trust those I asked this question of so decided to stop tutoring since I love my freedom more than I love to teach, and help.
I honestly feel for those that have no tooling or experience to get their kits built (correctly) but currently my hands are tied on this one.
Hopefully some clarification, and a 'green light' from the Calguns legal team will come down soon at which time I will resume teaching.

I was afraid things would come to this. Those bastards in power continue to try and "fix" something that isn't broken. SB 808 IMHO is aimed directly at law abiding hobbyists that want nothing to do with registering firearms.

I'm honored to have been involved in one BP to know what the experience is like before dirtbags like DeLeon and Yee sabotage any future endeavors I wish to partake in. My only regret is the window for doing this is quickly closing and pictures or stories (aside from the builds if they aren't confiscated) might be all that remain.

I won't give up the fight to preserve it, but as some would say the odds are against us here. To me, Nevada is looking better every year...

If i just start dabbling in something i know nothing about and try and do all this myself with inadequate knowledge and tools then i am liable to hurt myself or some one else with the finished product! youd think if the government gave two S**ts about anything they would allow people with the knowledge to educate the noobies so they have proper equipment and know how. its not like were gonna stop making em, so why not make it safer and do everyone a favor? I'ts bs. Since im in the bay i guess i could just drive across the border right quick and get it done. Anyone in Nevada willing to lend a hand?

I think this is exactly why they are doing it. If people are smart enough to know that they need help, and can't get it, then they won't try and won't build, unfortunately. Of course that just leaves the stupid people to show how easy it is to screw up and make things worse. It is a shame what Cali has done to us. Sometimes I wish the state was broken into multiple states so each part could set their own laws. What is good for LA might not be good for the country folk in the Sierras, or even San Jose.

Born and raised in LA and got fam in San Jose and San Diego. Cali laws really are bull****. Only way I see change is if we vote the right people into office. And to be honest, I'm hesitant to say that at least half of the Calgunners here actually VOTE. And MrHappy, local municipalities have the power to enact their own ordinances in their cities. So what's legal in San Diego and San Jose can be illegal here in LA. Just fyi.

As to OP, build parties have now been banned by the ATF. So you will be hard pressed to find one, even someone to go 1 on 1 with you.
