I know mine isn't as nice as some of the others, but its still a lot of fun to shoot in the back yard!
It's based off the old 760 Pumpmaster, it will shoot both pellets and BBs. The forward grip really helps to get some leverage to pump it, hopefully it doesn't require a mag lock |

First 8 shots of a Marauder .25 on a rock at 40 feet away. The first 3 shots on the left of the rock and the rest were on the right side of the rock. I was amazed. ITS AN OUT OF THE BOX EXPERIENCE ! LOL. The only thing I did was fill it up to 3000 psi and aligned the scope with a laser boresighter from walmart . Used a JSB Exact King. I went to Angeles National Forest around 7pm and I didnt know if I need an "Adventure Pass" and dont want to get a ticket from the park ranger so I took the 8 shots and left. That be nice, but she got me a IWI Jericho 941 CO2 pistol for my birthday haha. I would love to get the marauder, but right now that gun is just a little bit out of my budget. I was looking at the Benjamin Discovery combo that comes with a pump too, but that will have to come down the line when funds are better. Right now I'm kinda waiting on something from that show I was on, can't really say too much more than that because I'm under contract, but I can say by July, I will be getting something that will allow me to get a couple airguns and ammo. I'm going for the Crosman Optimus in .22 and maybe the Crosman Doomsday Bug Out Kit, and I also would like to get the gun in my profile pic, the Umarex Steel Force.

I have been shooting in the San Bernadino National Forest for 3 years now. A Forest Service Ranger has stopped by 3 or 4 times and never asked to see a pass but did want to know what weapons I was using (legal check I suppose). So don't think you need an Adventure Pass but its easy to check, just call the Ranger Station that is local to where you shoot and they will let you know. Only restriction I have is the target shooting area is closed during fire season, usually July to October.

Nice silver streak Varmintgetter. Especially with the Williams peep sight. Hang on to it. They are getting to be hard to find. I had Mac1 in Gardena rebuild mine with a "steroid tune" and had the billet pump lever installed. Hits hard now, especially with the Eun Jin heavy hunting pellets. I refinished the stock and forearm while it was away being rebuilt. My teenagers each have a blue streak, snd this will get handed down to my 5 yr old when hes old enough to actually pump it.

Yup. Picked up a Daisy m853 from the CMP back in March and have put more rounds through it than all my centerfire firearms combined.
I see all the other posters talking about what I would consider high end rifles shooting at over 1000 fps. I guess that's necessary for a hunting rifle. But my $100 Daisy 853 at 500+ fps is perfectly fine for 10 m target shooting. I guess for target shooting at 10 m you don't need a fast firing rifle as my rifle is shooting at half the speed and at 10 m with a sling and in the prone position I am shooting one hole groups. Tim is a very awesome guy, he is currently re-sealing my Career 707 rifle and I talk to him from time to time. I was also a lucky recipient sometime ago of a Greg Fuller Sheridan...which just sits there. My Mac1 Steroid that I have is a much newer model because I wanted the scope mount that was made. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Qyw...Z31uw&index=22 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ndMY...Z31uw&index=21 It's currently residing in storage next to my other Sheridans, Sharp Aces, Crosman 160, 180, 118, 114, etc..or what I called "vintage" lot. I have yet done videos of those either...hence my YouTube project will be an on going and apparently not as ambitious progress. |

I emailed them about it and I found out there is no rule against it and the range master was just mistaken about what he was talking about, but yeah he was a younger guy though, don't know his name

Autoduel, I would like to thank you for enlightening me about the steel scuba tank with a 3442 psi. Same cubic feet as the AL80 but more pressure. It is double the price for an AL80 but at least half the price of a carbon fiber but saves me some trip to the fill station. So I got the steel tank.

http://www.pyramydair.com/blog/2006/...to-airgun.html Not often he does that as the outlay of work far exceeds the price. I promised him I wasn't going to just flip it and sell it. Perhaps I'll have to dig it out of storage and play with it some eventually. It's been so long that I've stopped but it's nice to know there are people out there that still has passion. |

Decent advice though the pressure gradient will vary affecting performance. From my very limited experience of doing that IMO it's not worth it to squeeze that little out. Just be more prepared IMO is the key.

Again from my very limited experience...it has work rather more dangerously with Co2 though with Scuba, they will just sit the tank to be filled and by that time, the temp will be of Room temp.

OK guys, so what about a good backstop/target for backyard/basement ranges?
Someone suggested getting some 4x4, cutting them and stacking them. This sounds like a great backstop idea and I will do this. But for the target area that gets hammered, what do you do? Commercial pellet trap? I had been saving magazines and shoving them in a Costco bulk mini-wheats box to make an large stack of paper for a target. I also went and bought some DUCT SEAL from Home Depot (Hint: It's in the electrical section, not the hvac section!!!!) Which was like $2.50/1lb. So I figured I'd use the box of paper as a target backstop (with the 4x4 as a larger backstop to prevent wrecking the wooden fence) and the actual target area would be a clump of duct seal crammed into some smaller box attached to the paper stacked box. So target hits would hit the duct seal. near misses would get eaten up by the magazine stacked box, and wilder shots get caught by the 4x4s. Or, I could just buy a metal pellet trap and line it with duct seal (to muffle the sound and protect the "range" from neighbor complaints/notice). What sez youz guyz? |

I've always used phone books....as where I live there are extra phone books at almost every supermarket. It's often backstopped by a big block of wood. However, it is messy.
I think your pellet trap with duct seal to me is a great option. Wished the old reckless ignorant days where the fence was the backstop..too young to know the consequences and cost. |

Like I said..I have limited experience...hence I decided to buy 3 4500psi tanks. I think experts are much better to listen to.

I just bought a Daisy 105 Buck to shoot in the yard. I never had one as a kid and I hope "I don't shoot my eye out".
For some of us old guys this is like being young again. KEWL!!

staple an old golf shirt, folded 3 times, over and in front of the carpet, then shirt side down on a bottom of a card board box. Turn the box on one end and tape your target on it. The pellets are stopped by the golf shirt/carpet and does not even get to the oak bottom. Just in case I have a 3/4 inch press board as a back up. The pellets get trapped in the card board box, no fuss, no muss no shredded phone books, or thick magazines as I have tried those first. |

I hunted for "silent pellet traps" and came across this
http://www.archerairguns.com/Premium...trpnoputty.htm it costs $70, and does NOT include "impact putty". You can buy their putty, but they even say it's cheaper to buy at HD, due to weight and shipping. They also sell a steel plate that could be handy. ... it's a wooden box with a clipboard clip!! I can make that for $5 and some time. I bought Duct Seal for $2.49/lb at Home Depot (electrical aisle) and I went to Target and bought a 9x13 metal cake pan (2 inches deep) for $4.74. I'm sure the steel pan will not break through after a pellet digs through the putty, and if it does, it's a simple matter to buy another pan and nest the first one in it, doubling the steel thickness. I have 12 lbs of duct seal, so I'll pack that into the cake pan until it's full, then just stick that in a wooden box. I'll use a spare piece of plywood as a backstop for flyers (it should take a hit or two if they are not in the same place) I have some 4x4 lying around, but not that much. I'm guessing even 2x4s could take some hits on the face side. I wish I had some time to mess around with this, my Marauder is still in it's box! Last edited by Lead Waster; 05-16-2013 at 11:02 AM.. |

I have a Big Cat 1200 springer. With the PBA ammo it gets close to the 1200 fps, with the Cometa Xtra 10.4 grain domed its around 950 fps I would guess.
The max distance inside is 12.6 yards, which is where I set up my home-made back-stop. I have also used Beemans coated HP at about 7.2 grains. Don't know how that stacks up to your 65+ M-Rod. |

Be very careful about the plywood's ability to stop pellets, I have a Beeman C-1 that I was shooting into a stack of phonebooks through the door into my garage.
One flyer hit the garage door, it made a hole on the inside and actually caused the wood on the outside of the door to raise up. |

I read that it likes crosman premiers. So I bought a bunch of tins at Walmart .22 cal $8.99 for 500 rounds ( previous price of 22LR now it's $35-$ 100 for 500 rounds). I have only shot like 30 rounds so far on my Trail NP All weather in .22

I've been shooting airguns on and off with firearms.
-Crosman 1377 .177 -Archer Airguns AR2078A "Custom" .177 now set up with co2 9oz paintball tank, side lever handle and breech raiser so the tank can clear the barrel. -Benjamin Marauder .22 added regulator(~1600psi) shooting JSB 15.9gn @ 840fps. I get about ~50 good shots until the pressure drops. -Benjamin Marauder Pistol .22 setup with a 13ci 3000psi paintball tank with output of 1800psi. I've been getting about 45 shots at 750fps with same pellets above. -Beeman P17 .177 I've been using a scuba tank to fill my guns. Anyone use a paintball HPA tank to fill their PCP? I know Ninja makes a 90ci/4500psi tank with reg output to 3000psi. I'm wondering how many fills it give out. Been shooting at my parents farm for fun and pest control. |

I just took my Colt Defender .177 BB CO2 pistol out and got off about 50 shots. Did some penetration test for fun and shot at my old bedroom door that's layin out in the back on the side of the house ready to geth thrown away. First I shot at the door and the BBs went straight through both sides and after that I took 2 cardboard boxes, the thick ones that my sons diapers come in and I lined them up in front of the old bedroom door and fired and about 80% of the shots went through both boxes and through both sides of the door and lodged themselves in my wooden backstop. The Colt Defender is rated at 410 FPS, but I've seen some that get chronographed at 440-460 FPS, so maybe I got one of them. Anyway it was fun
