Let's start off with the basics.
What style do you most often wear? Tucked in, not tucked in, t-shirt, suit and tie?

Your size and build?

Where on you body do you want to carry, 3 0'clock, Appendix, where?

Type of work.

Where are you located, that will tell me if there are places you can go to try on holsters before you buy?

Do you have your permit yet?

I own and have carried a full sized USP .45

Not an ideal CCW pistol to say the least, but we use what we've got. I'd scrap the IWB and go with a good quality body hugging OWB kydex holster. You are going to have to wear an oversized shirt or jacket regardless, as that pistol will print ugly otherwise. It won't dig into your side and can be presented quickly.

I respectfully disagree with Bobby on the must go OWB. That is a solution depending on where you live, and what your dress style is. I agree with Bobby that it's not an ideal carry gun, but I see this often with New LEO's that haven't settled on a back up gun yet. Depending on body type it is possible to carry the weapon with moderate to very good comfort in the 3:30 position. (8:30) if your a lefty. The problem is weight. You take a box of 20 .45ACP, box of 20 9mm and figure which you want to carry for 14 hours. Then the extra weight of the HK vs some other similar sized guns adds to level of difficulty, but it's not the size of the gun that is the issue. A lot of people carry full size service weapons, myself at times depending on the situation.

Remember when selecting an IWB holster your not concealing the gun, your concealing the grip. If you position the gun at 3:30 (right handed) and can the weapon the standard FBI 15 degrees +/- you put the grip at 3. In every position except standing straight up (gunslinger style) it's perfect. If you select a hybrid style holster you will have more to hide, but might find the weight more comfortable.

If you carry OWB, you have to consider holster color, do you have to remove the gun to go places with a no carry policy such as post offices or work. Does your clothing style allow it? As much as possible you want to avoid changing clothing styles, as people notice, particularly women (heck they are trained since childhood to notice hair color and nail color changes). Avoid questions, only you need to know your carrying.

If you go OWB you will need to consider not only comfort and draw characteristics but retention. This will be driven by several things, and it's a discussion that needs to be had. For LEO's it can be departmentally directed, for the civilian it will be the choice of holster material, level of physical activity, physical limitations, if the person is around children or people with dimension, Alzheimer.

There is a lot that should be considered not just the gun.
