Question OpticsPlanet won't ship flash hiders to CA?

I placed an order on OpticsPlanet yesterday that included this standard A2 flash hider from Radical Firearms. This morning I received an email stating my order had been "Partially Cancelled" and to call immediately regarding my order. Speaking to the customer service representative, I was informed that they would not be sending me the flash hider, because "even though flash hiders are legal to own in California, we are prevented from shipping them to your state."

Is this just an OpticsPlanet policy? I don't expect companies to ship clearly restricted items (e.g. 30 round mags, binary trigger) to California, but a flash hider? Really? Is there some obscure law on California's books preventing them from shipping these?

Interesting, I would not be surprised to see more of this type of thing. I think it comes down to companies not understanding California laws and being over cautious rather than getting burned.

Yup they have joined the ranks of cheaper than dirt, etc. that won’t ship most items to CA. Don’t waste your time ordering an upper from them either, it will get cancelled too even if it doesn’t contain a flash hider on it...

Oddly enough, my order also included a barrel and a stripped upper, but that didn't get flagged... if it was a complete upper it'd probably get removed. I've also received an LPK, handguard, and various other parts in the past month from them, so it really threw me for a loop. I wonder if muzzle breaks/linear compensators/thread protectors would get pulled...?

No worries OP. Now you know.

I have no issue not doing business with companies that don't want to support gun owners in CA.

I'll support the companies that support us, and cross the others off of my list.

Wanna see something weird? Check this Ballistic Advantage link out for the VG6 Epsilon 9mm. https://ballisticadvantage.com/vg6-p...silon-9mm.html

The disclaimer says
Quote:
NOTE: The EPSILON 9MM cannot be shipped to the State of California due to new legislation. This is considered a flash hider.
Apparently flash hiders are illegal here and someone forgot to tell the rest of us.

I got three of these sent right to my front door.

https://www.opticsplanet.com/aim-spo...zle-brake.html

But it is actually Muzzle Brake.

Price is right, but the shipping is high so factor that in.

Optics Planet wouldn’t even send a 22 upper to me. CADOJ has gone out of its way scare off any online retailer selling gun parts.

I hate to dogpile on here, but I just made a purchase of a belt and holster with them a month ago. Was excited to get free shipping for spending over $90, but then it took 27 days for my package to show. It was one of those annoying “your package had shipped” emails then every time you run the tracking it says “we’re still waiting to receive your package”.

I love optics planet, but if they are being lame about a part that isn't even on a rifle they don't need your business. You can legally buy a complete upper and have it sent to your house because it is not considered an "assault weapon" until you marry it with a standard configuration lower receiver.

If they don't know the law, it is their loss. I mean, if you have a fixed magazine semi-automatic you can have any banned feature except for stndard capacity magazines.

Not that I needed another reason not to deal with optics planet, this just seals it.
