The Good 'Ol days when I used to get long cardboard boxes with rifles inside, delivered directly to my door from Anniston.
Man do I miss them.

It looks like a lot of trouble, more than I'm willing to put up with. I'm happy enough with my 1970s Gold Cup and 2nd generation Glock 21.

Yep! It sure was nice to get those boxes! Got 4 once, went through 3 boxes, then got side tracked, forgot the 4th one for about a year! Turned out to be an all correct H&R!!! Still has the packing grease in the action and hang tag.
Remember the Mossberg M44's for $75 ea, they had high purchase limits on them so they could sell them off quickly.

Do you remember when the mailman usta' deliver your long brown box? I do. Got my DCM M1 back in '82. Mailman brought it and knocked on the door for your autograph.

Hey guys the mailman still delivers to your door from Anniston with a FFL03 and COE. Nothing has changed for rifles.

CMP themselves, Mark Johnson
Disappointed, after reading the 'Why" of it, in another article that I cannot find now.... The gist of it is, as I read it; is so that only serious collectors buy them and not end up "on the streets" and used in liquor store robberies.
I think I will pass on this one.

Of course you are right. I missed the distinction between "mailman" and delivery service. My bad. I thought folks might have missed that they still deliver to the door.

No biggie, I remember on an old C&R email Forum back in the early 1990's taking about the BBT (Big Brown Truck) delivering or waiting for it!

Indeed it is the Big Brown Truck of Joy and I love my driver Rich. But I am afraid his back is gonna be hurting from my holiday purchases and last throws of internet ammo buying (5000 round cases of CCI SV turn out to be quite heavy). He likes the CMP cardboard boxes better.
