1) I'm pretty sure they don't get financial compensation for enlistments.
2) Being a SFC he's probably the Sr. NCO of his office trying to get the numbers up for all his subordinates.

But yea, he's not here to talk about guns. He's here thinking guys interested in guns want to join the military.

He's probably best served participating on this Forum with a legitimate interest in firearms, and then when the occasional member here posts interest in enlisting in the services he could POUNCE via personal message to the member.

Just an idea.

Move along troll. Have you ever served? Are you a 20+ year military veteran like some of us? If not I suggest you keep your mouth ****en shut. Thanks!

They don't get compensation other than time off. He is senior enlisted so show some respect. He has probably done more for his country than you ever have.

I am also a former senior military leader and call it like I see it.

Gents,

There probably is some caution called for regarding this posting.

There is a Sergeant First Class Eric (nmi) Landin on active duty in the Army and assigned to recruiting duty. I'll credit this gent with all of the respect he deserves for his service to our country.

I'm somewhat disbelieving that he is the person who authored the original posting for the following reasons: 1) I never seen an instance where a military member performed public and official duties using a private e-mail address. 2) The phone number listed appears to belong to an older couple, not having the name of Landin, in Woodland Hills. and 3) The OP seems to have gone missing from this thread.

Of course, I can be wrong, I'm only giving this one a quick look, but there was a enough in the original post to cause my BSD to activate.

Our security folks always watch you. I never used mine unless it was for official business and never put it out on a public website. They told us not to do that, ever.

I would have used my private email.

So not sketchy for me because a lot of our folks would use a private email because if they use their DOD on a public forum (at least in our service) they can get in a lot of trouble.

So who knows really. But that poster showed disrespect, regardless of his opinion on the matter.

Appreciate the support guys, Recruiting is a three year gig not using my .mil address and risk getting a virus on a government computer. I wanted to use an email I can ditch after recruiting duty! Snoopy47 hit the nail on the head. Looking for other avenues to put information out there about the Army. West LA is a tough market to recruit! My phone number is legit call me sometime and set up an appointment and see what the Army can offer you! Take care brothers!

You need to learn some respect, Punk.
Regardless if he served or not, his taxes and his labor paid for and continue to pay for you. I suggest you keep your mouth shut until you offer him an apology.
I call them as they are.

From what i recall there was a $1000 incentive per candidate the moves passed meps and completes ait/osut... but that was 07-08'???

But neat, you served in the military, so you judge people based of the caliber of their work or length of service? Pets be real, a heart surgeon has done more people than 95% of the mil... but cool it. I sat on a fob as a cook, or chute rigger, or static security! ****ing pog. Its pathetic when people get a chip on their shoulder with their entitled "thank me for my service" attitude with the "dysfunctional vet" sticker on their truck.

Asking if her served 20 years... were you in 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th group etc? Were you east coast or west coast teams? Were you red or gold squadron? Being in DHS whats scattered castles stand for or is that out of your pay grade?

Whats worse than a troll is some unjustified cyber tough guy ****

And also, this is a legit post. Its in the "jobs offered" section, so hes offering an employment opportunity, great benefits, free travel, future career. BAH... va loans, medical for life(medical sep) haha, but this post doesnt warrant getting your panties in a bunch because if you came here looking to complain about someone posting a "job offer" you must be bored as hell or have no life. Like myself for 12hr shifts at a time....

The SFC posted for some, a career opportunity and a list of available choices. Some of you cannot believe a recruiter would do this. I bet you would not believe the President of the United States would twitter. SFC Landin, thank you for your service brother.

What is wrong with posting military enlistment on this forum? It is a job nevertheless. And, this is job offered/job wanted post, isn't it?

There are lots of good reasons for posting a military recruitment notice here. Good luck and thank you for doing what you do for our country.

BEST way to get OUT of CA while you're young. I wish I'd joined the Army, as I look back on life now. College all paid for - the chance to go back as an officer; retire young, see the country and the world.

Do it now while you're young, guys - you only go around once.

Actually, he can post here advertising in the same way that you find recruiters on college campuses and highs school campuses talking to people about the military. I am a reservist; I see them on my high school campuses all the time and now that I'm back in college, they're there doing their thing too. I've also seen paper advertisements as well.

He's right to not use his .mil account for both virus purposes and the fact that the portal servers do not always allow access to civilian websites. We now have issues with gov't laptops on gov't servers not even allowing us access to our civilian emails in some cases.

SFC Landin: I just ask one thing. I see a lot of Soldiers who are immediately disillusioned about things that recruiters didn't tell them. PLEASE make sure you tell them that this is not just about traveling the world and seeing interesting places and people. It's not just about the college money and the cute uniforms we wear and the job skills that can serve you afterward. It's not about a paycheck, but service to the other person in the hole with you.

I teach high school and many of these kids will end up in your (or another recruiter's) office. Some will make awesome additions to our team. Please just make sure they understand the darker side of what they are planning to engage in. War is an ugly business and the deserts of Iraq and Afghanistan are not garden spots. PLEASE make sure they understand this as well as the college money.
