Multiple new approved instructors, self-defense as a good cause, no secondary application, no interview wait times, no letters of reference. Basically he promised immediate shall-issue with no hurdles. ďIf you can pass a background check, you can get a ccwĒ.

Now we wait and see if heíll make good on his promise and how quickly he changes things.

SECOND AMENDMENT

I am a firm believer in our Constitution, particularly the Bill of Rights. I believe the only thing that can protect the First Amendment is the Second. I also believe it has two distinct parts: the right to keep, and the right to bear. Although California is a ďmayĒ issue state, my position aligns more with ďshall.Ē I believe that every person who desires a concealed weapons permit, otherwise not prevented by law or psychological concern, should be granted a permit.

Currently it takes approximately two years to obtain a concealed carry permit under the direction of our current Sheriff. I believe that is a tool to dissuade people from even applying. I believe that a right delayed is a right denied. I will strive to provide the county with the services they demand.

The appointments are down to a few months. It may take a while after January for the department/process to get overhauled but what the heck, it'll be here in no time! Go Bianco!

Just filled out application/called for an appointment. No answer, so I left a message.
So far my time line is:

11/4/18: Left message regarding interview
11/6/18: Received call, was told September 2019, BUT was repeatedly told I'd receive another call and my interview wait time/appointment would be at least cut in half.

Based on what I'm seeing here, hopefully it will be sooner than 5ish months.

Default Renewal Time

My license expires in February 2019 so I emailed on Thursday and received an answer within 2 hours. My appointment is January 8th.

I have 6 weeks between my appointment and renewal. Last time my renewal took almost 2 months, but the holidays threw a wrench in my timeline.

Hoping for a smooth and easy renewal.

I'm in the same boat. Mine expires in April. I was planning on emailing them after the first of the year. I just started looking at this thread again last week and it appears that things have improved over the past 2 years. And with the new sheriff it could improve even more.

I apologize if this has been asked before.

But let's say (hypothetically of course), that a 9mm handgun was purchased during the good old days of SSE.

Suppose that the DROS paperwork says that it's a .25 caliber?

Would this be an issue to the RCSO, since they don't allow anything smaller than .380?

Weapons are inspected and ser. #s recorded. Everything better be kosher. They don't need/ask for the DROS, so it might not be an issue at all. I wonder though if that might be a liability exposure later if an event happened. They just ask "are these guns registered to you in California?"

P.S. I may not know what I'm talking about.

Yes thatís definitely an issue. They will not allow you to carry a gun with an incorrect caliber listed on the registration. You need to get that fixed ASAP. Iím not even sure if the pawn method works though, youíll need to ask on another forum.

This is correct. My Ruger LCP was DROS'd as a .38 when it is a .380. This was found when they were processing my renewal. Dep. Aguirre asked if I wanted to get the DROS changed and then resubmit the renewal. I knew that this would delay my renewal and I did not want to have a lapse of CCW coverage. Since I was putting 6 guns on my permit I decided to just leave that one off since I rarely carry it except as a BUG when I'm going to a suspect area. If the caliber of your gun isn't matching the DROS it will NOT go on your permit.

You were allowed 6 on yours? I thought that 3 was the max?

According to the FAQ it is SIX.
LINK
How many firearms can I have on the permit?
Six. You must successfully qualify with each of the firearms on the permit.

Itís 6. The CA form only allows 3, so make a copy of the firearm info page on the CA form and fill out 6 if you have that many you wish to carry. I regret qualifying with only sub compacts, I should have done it with my 4Ē service pistols too.

This is funny. My permit shows incorrect calibers and models. Someone fat fingered the data and itís messy. He asked during my interview if it was correct and it was. But when I picked up and signed the invisible signature pad and it printed my permitted firearms, 2 of them were wrong.

One of mine was wrong too. I brought it to my deputies attention and he said it needed to be fixed. So he fixed it for me.

I would.... Just incase if something happened where the gun you had on you didn't match your permit. It could be a potential problem. And jeopardize your permit.

He claimed on his website that the "self defense" for good cause would suffice. I wonder how quick Bianco will make this change? Hopefully sooner than later.

Very good class. I avtually Am thinking about supplementing with more training. Thereís so much involved and more responsibilities. Donít forget to wear your vest properly.

I enjoyed it, staff is great, very helpful if you need any. I will say there were a few people who had literally never shot the guns they were qualifying with and weren't doing so hot but with the help of the range master they did fine.

I think that if anyone things this is enough training, they are sadly mistaken. This was not nearly enough training. As our instructor stated "he will never let anyone say that the sheriffs department taught them how to shoot" and this statement is very true, they will help you adjust slightly but nothing crazy.

Timeline of the day
0700 - Arrived and parked behind modular 32
0730 - Doors open and everyone lines up, you check in and give them your personal check for $100(if you don't have it they will let you turn it in at a later date but it is not advisable)
0800 - Class starts, we took 3 15 minute breaks, restrooms are nearby.
1145 - Break for lunch, 1 hour, meet back at range after. I ate lunch in the parking lot of the range.
1245 - Range time begins, they will let you know that all single gun CCW applicants should really go first as it makes things go faster to get them out of there, this was 100% accurate. Armorer will check guns functionality and compare serial numbers on your paper.
1315 to 1330 - Shooting begins. Shoot the gun you are most comfortable with first and save the one you have the biggest worry about for last as you will not feel as rushed because the lines are gone by this time.
1530 - Walked out of there a happy camper after qualifying with 3 guns. some people were able to leave as early as 1400 if they only had 1 gun.
