Thumbs up CASM from M14.ca

Frank sent me one of his new generation, 4 point M14/M1A scope mounts, the CASMĀ®.

It arrived yesterday and I can't wait to install it!

M14.ca

The color matches up with my FDE Leupold Mark 4 and it will replace
my EBR rings, the optic will ride in low wire EDM rings from SEI.

It's different. Seems like it puts the optic high on the receiver.

Seems like it's as low as any other mounting system; actually it looks like it would mount the scope lower than most.

But, I *really* don't like the idea of losing the rear sight.

Your right, looking at the website comparing it to my smith mount, it does look a tad lower. I'm not worried about losing the sight, if it went on it would stay on. I wouldn't want to use this mount on all my M1a's.

I am willingly giving up both of my iron sights (F&R) with this mount, but I've got an
Insight mRDS with a 3.5 MOA dot on an offset mount that will keep me in the game.

BTW, getting at the irons with this particular SAGE EBR stock is nearly impossible.

My plan is to install the Mod 2 butt stock on my Mod 0, this butt stock is made for dedicated optics - no irons.

Hey H20,
Do you have a extra striper clip pic rail?
I want to mount a scope this way... What's your take using a striper clip mount over a smith scope mount?

I don't have an extra M14SCSB.

Both the SEI and EBR ring stripper clip mount method are excellent and both provide an iron sight tunnel.

If you are looking to reduce weight you should consider the EBR ring stripper clip mount method.

Here is a light range report with my new M1A Supermatch with bedded Archangel stock. I used two different bullets at 100 yards. 180 grain Remington soft points and 150 grain russian (cheap stuff). All shots were from bench rest position with Harris bipod and sandbags. I actually shot better with the Cheap Russian .308 than the Remington, probably due the bullet weight. My heavy barrel doesn't like 180 grain bullets for tight groups.

I'm sure the rifle shoots better than me. I have shot the same Russian ammo at 300 yards and was still hitting within a 10 inch circle. What I need to do is buy really good match grade ammo and try it out. But the bottom line is the gun is a little more accurate with this stock than when I was using the Boyd's stock and it much more comfortable too.

So far so good, no peep sight though so I added flip up battle sights.

Left group is 12 rounds of GMM168gr HPBT, as are the next right flyers. Far right group is PPU168gr HPBT and the far right flyer. One shot of GMM went completely off. 100yd range with bipod. Scope is a trijicon 5-20x50 red triangle on post. Interestingly, the up down is right on there, with 100yd being near the top of adjustment line, so I can drop it down quite a bit if I needed.

So I wanted something to train on in case I deploy and to bring to an upcoming SPR/DMR class. Since I'm an SDM I'll most likely get an M14 EBR, and I wanted something close to what I'd carry in theater.

So I finished my build - went with a RAS mounted instead of a Sage stock to avoid any trouble with bullet buttons. Went with super high rings just because I was unsure if I could pass with highs - Had to make a cheek rest to get a good cheek weld with the Leupold.

Its a military SAM splint folded up then taped down with 100mph tape. Looks ghetto as **** on my brand new stock, but works really well and I shaped it so its sort of like an LMT SOPMOD stock - very comfortable.

The Marines use an isomat and riggers tape for their 'custom' cheek rest. I have a $2,000 long distance bolt gun, and I use the same method. I figure, it saves me money for more ammo =)

I can't believe that after 19 pages, nobody has a pic of a Scout Squad in a stock black stock with a Leupold 2.5x Scout Scope mounted. I just arranged a deal for one to go on my Scout Squad. I noticed more than a few Scout Squads with red dots on them, but I tried that on my Socom II and didn't find that it was a good match to the rifle. To me, the M1A is a battle rifle design and as such, should be as simple and reliable as possible.

I'll post pics once I receive it and get it mounted.

Nice.

Which mount and rings are on that? I like how low set that is.

I can't say for sure just yet, it's one of the new ones and it just arrived this morning.

The new ones came about partially because the original one they sent me months ago
would not fit in any of my Chinese receivers... I'm just excited that this one fits.
