Default GSSF and CGSSA Presents: GLOCK West Coast Challenge II - Spring

It's that time again, this April we'll be headed back out to the range along with 400 of the fastest shooters in California for the first of two GSSF matches that CGSSA will be hosting this year.

On Saturday, April 1, 2017 and Sunday, April 2, 2017 we'll be hosting the The GLOCK West Coast Challenge II - Spring at Burro Canyon Shooting Park (22100 E East Fork Rd, Azusa, CA 91702) in Azusa, CA.

If you're not familiar with GSSF matches here's a nice 17 minute video that takes you stage by stage and division by division.

I hope to see you there...

Can somebody sign up for this the day of, or at least the week prior? It's hard for me to know if I'll be working.

Yes you can sign up the day of the event. You might have to wait in line for a little longer.

Hi all, I'm new to GSSF and I plan on shooting this event! (Nervous and very excited)

My question is, do I need to be at both days? Or can I just shoot on one of the two?

You can shoot either or both, it's really up to you. It's open squadding, so you show up, get your stickers, and sign in at, and shoot the stages. If you're shooting multiple divisions you can shoot some one day and others another, ...

It's really flexible.

Already pre-registered for four divisions with two pistols, G19 (first time) and G22. Let me see if I can do better than what I did last November with my G22...

Woot...!!!

Followed the link and filled in form. Hit the submit button, it went gray, but then nada. Any way to know if the form went through, don't want to send in multiples.

What were past Sundays like and when is the latest I could shoot? I will be in town for WonderCon in Anaheim that weekend. I might swing by Burro on my way back to the Bay Area to shoot on Sunday.

Sundays are busy in the morning but by noon it starts to wind down.
The range is open until 330pm and shutdown by 2pm.

Thanks for the info. So the last GSSF shooter must register before 2pm in order to participate?

I appreciate that!

When you click submit the screen should refresh with a message stating something like "your feedback has been submitted". I just checked, and I don't currently have a record for your screen name on the volunteer roster.

True, I haven't forgotten about it either. Only change is I can't work Sunday, but Friday and Saturday are still a go!

Chad, how many competitors were in Nov?

For those on the fence, like him or not. Taran Butler has showed and shot this event and that alone is a sight to see.

I don't remember the exact number, but it was slightly over 400 (433 maybe).

Very true about Taran, Logan Fowler, and a few other phenomenal shooters have been known to rear their head which makes for quite a show.

If so, don't forget your gun and ammo and at least 2 mags, maybe three.
Of course eye and ear pro.

If you don't want to end up having to reload on the firing line, you really need 4 magazines (3 plus a barney) for 5 to GLOCK and GLOCK'M, and 5 (4 plus a barney) for GLOCK the plates.

If you have less, you can make it work, and the ROs and fellow competitiors will help you reload. However, if you have 4/5, that will be just one less thing for you to worry about.

OK Chad... a "barney"??? Never heard that term before.

Like a mulligan in golf?

So you can strip one round off and then insert a full mag, netting you 11 rounds.

I've never understood the whole load 11 round thing with GSSF, and in the past used only 10 rounds per string.

5 to Glock = need 10 rounds per string (2 each per D1) <-- Why 11 here?

Glock M = need 9 rounds per string (2 each per D1, 1 per popper)
So 2 extra rounds in case you miss popper?

Glock the Plates = OK... I could use an 11th here!

On 5 to GLOCK there really is no reason to load 11 except to recover from a malfunction.

On GLOCK'M, you may want to load 11 for an extra shots required for the Pepper Popper.

On the GLOCK the Plates, as you said the more you can get the better...

I just wanted to drop into this thread to give some kudos and thanks to the CGSSA team/staff for a great event. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. As it was my first time in any kind of shooting competition, I appreciate everyone's patience and helpful attitude towards me this morning. It was fun!

I filled out the membership and registration form and emailed per instructions on the form on March 27. 2017.
I have not heard anything, nor has my CC been charged.
I'm thinking my application was late and the organization was short handed.
My application will likely be processed in the near future.
Looking forward to competing in the next local GSSF function.

Looking forward to competing in the next local GSSF function.
FYI - GSSF event registrations must be received by the Wednesday preceding the event per the GSSF website.

Most likely GSSF will charge your CC for the membership in the near future. If they do also charge the CC for the registration, they will send you a voucher good for any future GSSF event.

It's a great event and very friendly to new competitors, you WILL want to attend the next one at Burro Canyon in November.
