Default Where to find steel targets for hopefully cheap?

Going to the desert on short notice and I want to pick up steel. This is for rifles, .223 and .308 mostly but I may bring the .338lm for a few rounds. Is there anywhere in Orange County that sells steel targets for a decent price?

Try Industrial Metal Supply in Irvine. I did buy some AR500 round plates from them a few years ago. Don’t recall how much they were though. Give them a call and see if they still carry it.

Bring a fire extinguisher & shovel with you

Copper jackets bullets do spark and start fires

I purchased mine from a charity organization in Washington state.

This is the place where I purchased mine.

Black plastic sewer pipe makes a decent target frame. The black plastic does not shatter like white PVC

If your handy and have an oxy-acetylene torch and a mig welder you can fab up some cheap 3/8 rebar frames to hold up your targets. Or you can grab a few bowling pins “Safer” and hang em as well. This is what I made up... and that’s one of the plates I bought a few years ago!

I go to my local scrap center. The have all kinds of stuff including steel plate. Make sure you construct a hanger or way to hold it up and have a slight slant towards you at the top, so that any ricochet goes into the dirt, nut up or back at you.

+1 for IMS, they have a couple bins of remnant stock they sell for cheaper. You can find all kinds of goodies there, especially if you have the machining capabilities to touch them up.

Default Hang Fast Targets

If you want something easy to set up, doesn't take a lot of room in the vehicle, breaks down and stores easily.... Hang Fast Targets has the solution.

Our system is VERY reactive and has the best sound because the target is mounted by a single bolt.

We offer a 10% discount to all Calguns members code: CALGUNS10

A few folks make those here in San Diego. Me, I don't care for lugging heavy steel plates out into the desert.

I use roadway election campaign signs and stick a Shoot-n-C on them. Much easier to carry out and easy cleanup too. No sparks off the paper either.

Pick up a few for free after election day.
