Some options for pistol steel targets in the bay area:

Sunnyvale Range: 1/2 size silhouettes on the pistol line @ 25 yds. Available Tues, Fri, Sat, 1st & 3rd Sun to the public.

Richmond Hotshots (organized events). Safety class required and offered once a month, 3rd Sat (must pre register) before eligible for participation/use. Steel plate rack available. USPSA formal matches biweekly Sundays, less formal USPSA practice sessions every Saturday.

San Leandro Saturday Night Steel Shoot (organized event). Orientation/Qualification required and offered 1st and 2nd Saturdays first come first served, (no pre registration) before eligible for participation. Every Saturday evening, informal fun shoot, 5 bays of multiple steel targets set up.

Metcalf Range Defensive Shooting Club (organized event). 1st and 3rd Sundays. Drills and scenario based event, sometimes incorporates steel targets into stages.

Get out there and shoot!

Quick question about the Richmond Hotshots USPSA practice sessions: do I need to bring my own IPSC cardboard targets (and target tape)? Or do they provide/install them already?

No, part of the range fee is we provide a static line for usually 2 plate racks and a line of cardboard targets. We also usually provide a stage that you can navigate through under RO supervision. All targets are provided. You must be holster qualified, classified by USPSA, IDPA, or have shot other major matches and have proven skills or you need to take a safe competitor class offered by Richmond, Yolo, Sac Valley, Shasta, Almaden Valley, or other clubs in the state.

Thanks for the detailed answer! I am planning to take the IPSC class at Richmond next month. Can't wait to start my practice at the range

If you work with Steve I thought he was going to be offering some secondary classes per month if he could get the necessary help.. You could also opt to take the class that Yolo offers.. or Almeden Valley. We honor their classes as they do ours..

Thanks sargenv. I contacted Steve and will see whether any extra class will materialize, sooner than March
