Default Just finished my 3rd week of the Academy

Feels great, still have a long road ahead of me. Just wanted to give an update real quick while I had time. It's been real tough and real demanding. I know it only gets harder from here, both mentally and physically. Unfortunately we have had two drops in the first two weeks. Just a quick update.

Congrats. Dont quit and study your LD's. If you can pass all your LD's and scenarios its pretty easy sailing. Take it one day at a time. which academy?

Don't post anything on facebook/twitter, and be careful what you post on here. Tact Staff has eyes and ears in places you least suspect. Guy in my academy was over heard talking about how easy the academy was at a chipotle. The table next to him sat 4 plain clothes sergeants and a Lt. The next day he was smoked and memo'ed out until he rang out.

Best of luck to you. Dont quit, and dont question if its worth it. After 6 months you will be starting an amazing life and joining a brotherhood.

Good luck. Agreed - absolutely no (negative/personal info) posting on social media/forums/blog - don't post anything you can't say in front of your chief, the bad guys, or parents! It ruined a few cop careers. Nowadays, departments will ask and check them. Agreed, Study LDs, be prepared, time management, mental toughness and physical endurance. Maintain your bearing. Look and act squared away. Always have extra uniforms and equipment and don't fly your color. If it helps, get a good study group going.

I was a Tac Ofr. for 8 years - PM me for any advice if you like.

Good luck, hang tough, take charge, and enjoy the ride....and never quit! ever!

Might be best not to post anything at all- stay off the radar.

Good luck. It does get harder, but you can do it.

If you have time to post on CalGuns, you aren't studying hard enough.

Now go away, or I shall taunt you a second time.....

If none of the staff can remember you were in the academy after all is said and done, you did just fine.

That is probably the best advice. I managed to rank 3rd or 4th in the class of 60ish and never got any attention, either good or bad. Go to class, handle your business, and go home. Dont participate in the grab *** or drama that every academy has. I never got involved in it, in fact I only made one friend out of my academy that I still talk to today. Other than that, always rememeber your surroundings and maintain your professionalism.

As a final thought, some of the scenarios that you do will seem awkward and kind of juvenille. Well, its 10x more awkward for your first few months on the streets, and it isnt a staged environment setup for you to excel in. Really engage the scenarios and Q&A times with staff. It will greatly benefit you on the streets.

Are you sponsored or putting yourself through?
