Default Dump(Drop) Pouch

Dump pouches- What are you thoughts and experiences? EVERY company has there own pouch. 2nd hand is appreciated, personal experience is always better.

Most brands are similar in design... ie. Maxpedition rolly polly, 5.11 Drop pouch, etc
Other brands have distinctly different designs... ie. HSGI’s Mag-Net, Blue Force Gear Ten-Speed Ultralight Dump Pouch

I see KISS coming into play along with $value. Opinions?... what do YOU run and where on your kit?

Thank you kindly in advance!

I have
holds about 4 30rd AR mags and a couple pistol

also have
large holds about 8 AR mags.

either of them are great. i fond the 511 one to be easier to fold up, only uses a velcro strap, and the strap can be attached to the inside of the bag to stay out of the way. Tactical tailor is a little hard to roll up to get out of the way one handed.

the Tactical tailor goes on my battle belt, since i use a chest rig that holds 8 mags+2 on the belt.

The 511 is on my plate carrier.

no preference on them yet.

I have 6" and 8" of this both in black:

I bought in store (not online) - I can't remember if the price was the same... they are located in Gardena (next to Voodoo Tactical's warehouse) - in case you are So Cal local.

durable construction and material - collapses small and tight... not much to a dump pouch though.

That's what I have, in 8" black. Found it on Ebay awhile back for like $9 shipped.

Works great holding loose rounds in there when taking a handgun course, or any other course. I was using it in a handgun course and had a couple of 9mm boxes dumped in there so I could charge my mags on the line, without having to keep going back for more ammo like everyone else did. That's what I used it for, not to dump by used mags in there.

I use this on my main rig, attached to a Blackhawk pistol belt, and an ATS War Belt...,123,111.htm

The ATS WAR Belt has openings to allow you to have your drop leg on one side and your drop leg holster on the other. That dump pouch is awesome because it allows you to carry not just spent magazines, but extra gear too, like demo or extra canteens or medic gear, but also random field equipment that you have to bring out (but don't put flex-cuffs in it, like the Blackhawk website says...that's what a carabiner is for...hahaha). You can also use it for stuff like evidence you are collecting, or other random bring-backs. Tons of practical uses! The Blackhawk dump pouch is made of 1000D nylon, and best of all, besides the top opening, it has a zipper, which I love, so you can put big stuff in there easily. And, it's got an accessory pouch (where I put an Israeli bandage and QuikClot ACS+ hemostatic sponge, taped together for speedy use). And, for those working in wet environments, it's rot-resistant and has a drain hole. A plus for Maritime Interdiction folks.

This is another good one:,755,55.htm

I have the original design with the BTS/ALICE mount. I mounted it on my belt on my other rig. What's cool is that it folds up out of the way and takes up little real estate on your belt. It's a well made product as well. It's made of 500D ripstop nylon, which isn't as tough as 1000D, but it still works fine. It has a velcro tab on top and a flex cord drawstring to hold it shut when you don't want stuff to fall out, which is a nice touch that you don't see on many folding pouches.

Yes, these pieces of gear are more expensive than the Voodoo Tactical stuff, and a bit more expensive than the Tactical Tailor stuff, but you get what you pay for, and mine have lasted through years of field use, hard training, and getting stuffed into sea bags, so I can't complain. These are just the humble suggestions of a former Marine scout and current security contractor & security consultant. The best piece of advice I can give you, visit surplus stores and gear shops. Handle the equipment firsthand. See which ones you like and which ones you don't. Ask your buddies what they have and what they like/dislike about their gear. Try and experiment. The internet is a great resource, but you should do some "hands on" research as well. Good luck!

BDS tactical is the way to go. US made, not imported junk. 8 colors to choose from.

They also have one more elaborate but that not as compact when rolled up:

I like, own and use this one on my ATS war belt...

I have a few pieces of Tactical Tailor gear and will be getting more. All their gear is built like a tank and this is no exception. I like the fact it's very compact when folded and uses a buckle instead of Velcro which I don't think I've seen on a single dump pouch besides Tactical Tailor. It's also large and can hold several magazines or whatever else you want to put in it. Not much else to say.

If you need Multi-cam or coyote brown, they have a 500D version instead of the 1,000D, which is a bit lighter weight and cheaper.
