Default How Do FFL's In CA Get Bullet Buttoned Rifles

How do FFL's in CA usually get Bullet Buttoned Rifles? Do they use an out of state intermediate FFL or is there another method?

I thought you guys were already an FFL?

It's my understanding that most popular rifles are factory/distributor CA ready now. Even Larue Tactical has a CA dealer option.

Nope, not yet.

What about other types of rifles like HK USC, MSAR, SCAR's...

If the upper and lower are separated like an AR-15, you can just install the bullet button, right? If it's 1 piece, I think you've got to get it shipped in with bullet button installed or as a featureless.

I know Turner's used Lan World Inc. for a while as their middle man to make the more exotic guns Ca. compliant.

Similar question: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...ight=middleman
I've read on the forums that some shops like http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/ might be able to help.

A bullet button is only needed if the rifle is a semi-auto, center-fire. So, a lower is not, so it would not need a bullet button until BEFORE an upper is put on it.

Personally, I would not ship the two parts of a firearm in the same box without a bullet button. Separately is better in my opinion since it is clear that what is in the box would not be considered a so-called a-salt weapon.

Many places are installing bullet buttons, as well as manufacturers. You can also use a middleman.

this is a great question that i wanted to ask as well. i'm not an ffl holder but i like looking online for the best prices for rifles. when i find one that doesn't give me an option for a bullet button, but they are willing to ship to california, is it legal for them to ship to california if they disassemble the rifle so my local gun store can reassemble them?

thanks...

If the two parts are shipped separately, otherwise it could be considered a complete firearm.

Just clear it with your FFL first to avoid any hassles.
