Zastava has been around for a while, and are known for being excellent shooters, despite their modest selling price. You can't go wrong for the money.

I'm pretty sure this is the same gun that Remington was selling for a while under the "Model 5" designation.

Correct. It has been sold under the Charles Daly name and Zastava Z5 as well. I had one that was very accurate. Only minor issues were the magazines were a little funky to load and put in the rifle, the finish on the stock wasn't the greatest and the checkering was a little cheesy. However it had the best bluing that I have ever seen on a rimfire rifle.

Sold mine because I just had too many .22s not because it had any real issues. Worth the money in my opinion.

Cool. I've been looking for a cheap little bolt action to play around with.

Wow, very nice. I'm looking for another low cost .22lr. How does this compare to, say, a CZ? Do you happen to know what size the dove tail is? Nevered ordered a gun from out of state, so will have to do some homework first.

Manufactured in Serbia by Zastava.
Depending on the distributor, crappy wood but real nice metalwork. Not a CZ452 but close.

Also known as:
Charles Daly Superior II
Remington Model 5
CZ99

I bought two of the Superior II's, one for my wife & one for me. I didn't like the mud brown wood finish on mine so I refinished it.
Izzy43 is correct, mags are a bit "touchy". There are a bunch of threads on these little rifles on rimfire central.

Can't find it now, but yesterday while doing some research I found a review that said that the cartridge eject on his wasn't working and apparently it was due to a fault in the design. Anyone else see that review or have any experience with this problem?

Just saw that Zastava is back selling rifles and pistols in the US

Perusing their website it appears that they are also carrying parts for the CZ99 MP22 as that model is noted both in their new catalog as well as in their support site.

The "oil finish" on the Superior IIs was done by soaking the wood in used motor oil, then wiping it off and letting it dry.

They do refinish nicely.
