Default Upgrade to W10 is Slow

I recently updated a family memberís laptop (2.1 GHZ Corei3-501U, 4GB RAM, 370 GB free drive space) from W8 to W10. Performance is lackluster. Is W10 too much for this laptop? Are there any diagnostics or tuning options?
Thanks.

W-10 should run fine but the Core 3 is slow. Did you do a clean install or upgrade over W8? Clean install would be preferable.

4gb of ram and an old hard drive will slow things down. if you did a clean install it would help.

This^^^ However, an i3 is more than fast enough for Windows 10. Add 4 more GB/Ram, and you'll be fine.

I have Win10pro, running on a Core2Duo (2.2ghz Merom processor), with 8gb/Ram, and a 500gb/7200rpm HDD. Runs great!

No, you're not stuck with it, if you don't want to be.
