hey, i have been looking around for the answer to my question and i have yet to find it. Is there any laws regarding shotshells and what you can put in them?

Pretty much any of the fun stuff is illegal in California. If it shoots flames, explodes, or any other neat effect we are not allowed to enjoy it!

They sell 12 gauge flares at the marine store, and I have seen bird bombs at the gun shows (and at some stores more than 10 years ago). They also use to sell 12 gauge fletchet ammo, but I have tried them and they are useless. You can load your own shells with whatever you want, but be warned about damaging your barrel. Small nails and screw do less damage than round shot. One of the coolest things is dragons breath, but it's not worth the cost of a new barrel.

I dont know, but it is probably the most effective "less lethal" round out there...very potent.
