Default Commemorative SKS?

I would like to know what the C&R crowd thinks of this:

Expensive but interesting...

If OPs story is true then I wouldn't call an unissued rifle a "war trophy" , but still a pretty interesting history.

Pretty neat...but not the kind of stuff for me. They took an unissued and killed the stock! In my opinion, if you are trying to achieve the "war trophy" look, go all the way, not just half *** it. The work is nice on it though, not gonna lie. I'd be to tempted to pull that charging handle...

That's been around for some time now. It's a wall hanger. You already have originals Bobby. This one was just all dressed up. Companies can slap these things together in no time. Maybe that veteran that is not a collector may think its cool, but does not care and will never fire it. It kind of reminds me of those commemorative 1911's or John Wayne and other commemorative Winchester rifles.

I agree with 0321jarhead. It's meant to be a wall hanger that you just look at. Not sure why they have changed the stock, it would have looked more correct to have it in a nice period wood stock. To me, it's not worth the cost just because of what it is (or supposed to be). You have better SKSs in your collection, especially the unicorn honor guard one.

Seriously? I agree with Capybarra. Its an abomination. Looks like they spray painted the stock w/BBQ paint.
But like P.T. Barnum once said, "There's a sucker born every minute!".

Bubba'd by an individual or bubba'd by a company, what's the difference? Ranks right up there with the commemorative whatever from America Remembers and colorized $2 bills.

Un-issued Original Condition > Issued Original Condition > Restored Numbers Matching > Restored non-matching > Bubba'd Shooter > Bubba Safe Queen

This is a Bubba'd safe queen. I just don't get it.

Further more if it is a "REAL" bring back from Viet Nam, the seller should have the original form DD 603, Registration of War Trophy Firearms.

It might find its way on the wall of a Man Cave/War Room of somebody that perhaps is a Viet Nam Vet. The problem I have is, its not an American rifle. ....I love SKS's and have a few but this "Trophy Edition" stuff I have mixed feelings about. I would be more interested in Commemorative 1911, M14 or M16, guns that our G.I. used. My $.02 FWIW. ...but for the right price I would buy it.

Thanks all for the input. I wasn't going to try to buy it. It just seemed unusual and something I hadn't seen before. Definitely not my style but I hope the OP gets top dollar on it (non threadcrapping disclaimer).

+1, I think if he holds out he will find someone that has the spot for it on a wall. These were definitely not made to be shooter but wall hangers or to be placed in a shadow box.

I am a huge SKS fan and have several, but that is horrible. Whom ever decided on the black and gold theme has horrible taste. The black stock looks really bad.
It may have been put together with good intentions, but somebody really dropped the ball and took a nice rifle and screwed it up.
Too bad, they could have made a nice rifle with original rifles that had some taste and class.

Meh...
As most posters said - ugly. And to top it off - all the "pretty" gold stuff is on one side only. True wall ornament.
Not nearly as valuable to me as any standard SKS, particularly a Russian one.

The whole idea of a wallhanger firearm makes no sense to me. An unsecured firearm that is guaranteed to be taken if you are burglarized. I will show my stuff
to guests on request. Otherwise it is in a bolted down safe... good luck getting it quickly.

This was one of those "built" commemorative rifles. It's supposed to come with paperwork and all that jazz. This doesn't have that (didn't read full ad). I had a chance to pick a low numbered one for a cheaper price. I wanted it more for the low number than the scroll work.

Ahhh,

The AHS. They're the ones with that Kansas City Railroad commemorative pocket watch ad on T.V now.. That watch is likely a cheapo made in China.. To me these things all seems to be nothing more than gimmicks.

First the good things about it: It may be a turd, but it ain't as hideous as a photo of Moochelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, Barbara Boxer, and Dianne Fineswine doing hot naked lesbian sex with glow in the dark pink dildoes. Hopefully it is still capable of shooting.

I think any SKS that shoots, no matter how Bubba'ed, is worth at least around $300...hell, that one might bring even more from an inner city pimp or crack dealer.

I am thinking of taking one of mine and dipping the stock in roofing tar. Embed some casino chips and sprinkle gold glitter into the wet goop and let it sit. Cerakote the receiver pink and get a oversized black leather sling with playing cards sewn onto it. Red dice over the charging handle.

The no slip grip on rhe wood is terrible. If the wood wad original it would look about as hood as a fully chromed sks. Hell id rather have that black and gold sks then a full chrome to the dome sks.

Wall hangers are great ... but should be made in operable if you live in a area of dirtbag potential. Its too bad if you live in an area that makes you fear having a tool on a wall.
