Default hotels

Figured I would post this for anyone out of town, or interested in getting a hotel room. I would recommend staying in Castro Valley because of the proximity to the range. There are also more hotels in the area so feel free to look around all of these prices we taking from yahoo travel, so I assume some price change from time to time but at least it is a ball park number.

1st Comfort Suites Castro Valley (510) 889-9300 $114 a night
2nd Econo Lodge Castro Valley (510) 537-8833 $71 a night
3rd Castro Valley Inn (510) 538-5757 $66 a night

FYI A few people asked me about sidearms for this class. I ran this by Paul and his reply was "Yeah, they can bring it. It's not required because this is a pure carbine class though. No doubt if they bring one we will do a transitions section. "

I agree I think that is good practice to incorporate a secondary into a drill.

I will let someone else write a full AAR but at least here are my take aways. I will not cover course material.

You may get sticker shock for a class like this but taking a course with a highly reputable company insures you are with highly qualified students. Everyone that took this course either needed it for work or were experienced compeitive shooters.

Even veteran/excellent marksmen can be coached and improve which is the sign of a good teacher. I have taken plenty of courses where the instructor just says "Good Job" and passes right by me focusing on more elementary shooters/problems. I received some excellent feedback and motivation. Also allowing the students to become the coaches is an effective way to teach and learn.

The crawl, walk, run method seems tiresome until you are running and out of breath. The course started slowly which seemed boring but the lead instructor did an excellent job explaining why it was important and continued to refer back to the beginning. Saying "Fundamentals" means nothing but in context it becomes profound. Everything we did compounded on the first leason of the first day. With each new drill/excerise building on the leasons first learned. Extremely effective.

Bring a gun that works 100% of the time.
Zero your gun.
There is no such thing as bad weather only improper clothing.
Stay focused and driven.

Course questions will be answer via PM only.

Me shooting a 300 AAC Blackout (Barrel by Delta Company Arms), Muzzle brake by Solar Tactical, and a R-1 Aimpoint at C zone steel at 100 yards working on the seated position.
