By the way from 1 thing to another regarding airguns, do y'all ever bump in to those who don't believe that there are big bore air rifles that have enough power to drop big game? There are quite a few who I've bumped in to who only will believe that an air rifle is either a BB gun or a pellet gun with only enough have power to drop pests and varmint or to plink around with. Do any of you guys ever encounter these type of people too?

I just found this Hatsan 1000S Striker Combo. They got it in .177, .22 and .25 for 109 bucks. Anybody have any experience with this one? http://www.pyramydair.com/s/m/Hatsan...le_Black/2673#
I'm also looking at the Crosman Optimus http://www.pyramydair.com/s/m/Crosma...fle_Combo/2405 so if anybody has any experience with any of these rifles, please let me know. I'm planning my next buy and am trying to stay between 100 to 150 bucks

Was at Walmart last night trying to "stock pile" lol on .22 AIR Rifle ammo when I spotted a Benjamin Nitro Trail on synthetic for $199. Almost bought it. And was weighing that my Marauder is on its way with its accessories. Plus I still have to buy a scuba tank when the rifle arrives. The Nitro Trail has the compatible ammo next to it on display, e.g. Crossman Premier. I read that the nitro trail has a bad trigger but there is a $40 dollar trigger mod or a few cents mod. The price of the Crosman Premier $8 for 500 count was the same price of the bulk 22 LR ammo for 500 count before like 10 yrs ago. I go to the local range here, they charge $ 50 for 500 rounds 22LR. |

I've been an active "serious" air rifle shooter for about 5 years now. Started with a modded Talon SS and once I realized the accuracy and potential of the "serious" air rifles I quickly upgraded to an Edgun R2 in .22. I'm now shooting an Edgun R3 long .25 with a Bushnell 3-12 x 44 FFP G2DMR scope up top.
Very quiet, extremely accurate, and 48 ft-lbs does a real number on squirrels and other vermin. Longest ground squirrel kill last summer was at 145Y (9.6 mils of drop!) Besides being able to get real target practice in the backyard the other benefit is a lot of local orchard owners who are reluctant to let anyone use a .22LR or .17HMR to keep squirrels in check because of property layout or neighbors have absolutely no problems letting someone use an air rifle. End result: lots more places to shoot squirrels! I'm now considering an FX Boss in .30 caliber. Great way to spend an afternoon... Last edited by Kiba; 06-09-2018 at 10:56 AM.. |

I bought my first Edgun (.22 standard) without ever having seen or handled one in person. At the time I thought they were overpriced but after seeing them sell used for the same price as the new ones (if not a little more) I decided to order one as I could get my money back if I didn't like it.
I ended up keeping that first one almost two years and now I'm on my third-- I've been through a .22 standard, .25 standard, and as of now the .25 long is my favorite. Fantastic build quality, very quiet, excellent accuracy, and they're very efficient on air use. After a little regulator & hammer spring tweaking my .25 long will get about 90 shots within +/- 4fps on a 210 bar fill before it falls off the regulator. I'm looking forward to Ed's repeater conversion. For how I use the rifle the single shot is just fine; chances are if I miss with the first shot the squirrel has already run back to the hole. Ed is supposed to be making a limited run of .30 caliber and possibly 9mm versions this summer... Last edited by Kiba; 05-01-2013 at 10:20 AM.. |

I order a Crossmen custom shop Co2 .22 pistol last year. Then ordered a bunch of pretty upgrades from some guy in England.
I plink with it at our cabin when having a cigar and a drink on the deck. It's fun. I know they're much pricier air guns, but I probably have $500+ in the damn thing. :/ It's fun though. |

I think the 9mm version is going to be single shot only-- a 9mm rotary mag would be pretty large & cumbersome and would probably interfere with cheekweld. I could be wrong though, no telling what Ed has planned. The man is continually improving his products. As far as shooting one... where are you? I know of at least 3 of us in the Sacramento area with Edguns. |

I'm in the Fairfield area, so i'm only 45 min away from Sac. It's good to hear there's more airgunners close by. Where do you usually shoot? I shoot my quiet Gamo Sporter 500 springer in my backyard, but my co2's and my phantom I can only shoot at the range in Vacaville because my neighbors complain otherwise. It would be great to have some kind of airgun function for airgunners around us sometime. By the way have you ever been to DGS Airgun range on Santa Ana ave in Sac?

About 15 years ago when I still had my ranch I had a problem with squirrels, gophers, crows, etc. so went out and bought an RWS Model 24 .177 air-rifle. With one pump it was good for 700fps which worked fine on all of the above animals. RWS doesn't make that model anymore but their model 34 is pretty close. Those Germans do make some nice guns.

I have a Benjamin Marauder .22 pistol/carbine(I use it with the stock), with a Hill hand pump. Lots of fun, bolt action, 8 shot magazine.
Is is no shortage of .22 pellets, and the price is cheap. Honestly pellets guns are the way to go now, a nice one is lots of fun to shoot. Take a look at the Beeman R9 break barrel if you don't want to deal with a hand pump. Last edited by G21Shooter; 05-01-2013 at 8:34 PM.. |

I shoot Beeman R9 and R7 both in .177 though I have a .22 barel for the R9 as well. I've taken turkey, fox and raccoon with the .177 out of the R9 as well as many grape eating birds. R7 shoots ~650 fps and never goes supersonic so it is quiet. R9 regularly shoots supersonic, but you can get heavy pellets. Very inexpensive BSA Essential AO scopes are working very well for me but don't parallax at 10 meters which is only relevant for competition. They work great beyond 20 meters out to range of pellets.

The Edgun usually is along for the ride every time I go to the range (Sac Valley) as it's fun to get confused looks from other range users. There are quite a few airgunners out at Sac Valley in Ione and they do put on airgun matches every month or so. I found out about those when Jim, the match organizer, set up next to me one day on the 100Y line with an FX 500. I wasn't aware DGS even existed, I need to check into that. That's a nice sized range you got at the house! My range is only 45 feet.
I inboxed you too Kiba, so when you get a chance, check that out. On another note, regarding airguns, American Handgunner is showing love to airguns and airsoft in a new article right here: http://americanhandgunner.com/web-bl...#comment-36722 It's a pretty good read EDIT: I was just out a little while ago in the back with my Colt 1911 Special Combat .177 Cal CO2 powered BB pistol and tore up a can pretty good. Gotta love the little things haha

Okay I'm Addicted Now.
I will need rehab soon>>>from buying Airgunslol.. I'm waiting for my very first PCP a .25 Marauder to arrive. While waiting I thought I need a back up rifle in case I run out of compressed scuba air so I bought a Benjamin Trail NP all weather stock at Walmart! I like the rifle, but it's heavier than the wood stock version by 2 pounds plus the all weather version has 21 ft/lbs of energy while the wood version has 23ft/lbs of energy?... Why the difference? The All weather stock is good for rain/snow/sleet/crossing a river, etc
. But here in SoCal we only have sun shine and earthquake. I'm thinking of getting the wood stock at pyramid and returning the other. Last edited by bigsipper; 05-02-2013 at 10:17 PM.. Reason: . |

Who ever "left" shooting air guns ? I have a few that I bring out all the time.
Favorites could be my old benny pump pistols ( matching .177 and .22), or my old crossman Co2 powered (Crosman Mark I serial #00031, looks like the Ruger 22) an older target model , or the full auto bb gun ( rated at 3000 RPM)......... Oh well guess any of the 12 different bb or pellet pistols or rifles could be my favorites. Looking at a 9mm or maybe a 45 PCP now , now they look like fun ( except for the price tag of $1500 starting , just for the rifle)

Airguns legally are not a firearm of any type so you can ship them with any carrier. You will get quizzed if the box your shipping looks like a rifle box though.

Fired the Benjamin Trail NP All weather in .22 cal today at Angeles National forest . I was expecting a slight crack when firing like when I did it in my backyard one evening(maybe echoing from the house back wall and the concrete fence ) but all I heard was the ramming of the piston when the trigger was pulled . I was so surprised . It was very stealthy unlike my 10/22 and 223. I also noticed the common barrel smoke. This is my very first break barrel gun and finally got used to the procedure of breaking the barrel. I love the gun. Now Monday comes my Marauder in .25 as my first pcp. Will I get spoiled from not breaking the barrel? Lol. Will I return the Trail NP? We will find out .

I doubt you'll return the trail because it's a good gun too and doesn't need a pump or scuba tank everytime you use it. It doesn't hurt to have both. I have 2 break barrels, my Crosman Phantom 1000 is my favorite, but I still never got rid of my Gamo Sporter 500 because every once and a while I like to take that one out to shoot too

have you guys seen the big bore air rifles? i had never seen them before until i came across them at random on youtube. they are pretty pricey, but badass. .45 caliber,.357 cal etc lead cast pellets (pretty much lead cast like black powder) at like 700-1000 fps 100 plus grain bullet. there videos on youtube of people killing deer and boar etc. one video the .45 cal goes through both sides of a 240 lb hog. i had no idea, but i want one now

Grrrr! My Marauder showed up yesterday, then bounced because nobody was home. Then today it bounced again. So I called to have FedEx hold it. I should have done that yesterday as the hold facility is 2 blocks from my house.
I should have it tomorrow or Monday! I picked up a Centerpoint 4-16x40mm scope, it gets good reviews for its price, and got some accumount 1" medium height airgun/.22 mounts. |

I got some trigger time today with my Colt Defender .177 CO2 BB pistol. This gun is a lot of fun, very conservative of CO2, I get about 125 shots per CO2 and for a smooth bore BB gun it's pretty accurate too.
This steel BB shooter is really well built, it's made fully out of metal, looks very close to the real thing and is fairly cheap, it's sold for between 50 and 70 bucks depending in where you get it. For those interested, here's a pretty good review about it on YouTube http://m.youtube.com/index?desktop_u...?v=vxxVKpHBQtk

I must say, those Marauders look VERY tempting, but dammit OP, why do you do this! Now it's like I have a little voice in the corner of my brain saying, "you need an air rifle".
