Broke my ZT pocket clip today.

So far, don’t think I’ll ever buy another. Got the 0095BW.

Edge retention compared to other lower cost knives is same or worse to be honest.

Any amount of sand cruds the BB system.

I’ll stick to lower cost thrashers.

ZT will send you another clip for free but you'll have to pay a $7 shipping/processing fee. See: ZT Knives - Warranty.

When I ordered some parts that I had to pay for the process was to submit the request online and after a few days they called to get my CC# and then shipped the parts to me. Pretty simple. Should be the same for the clip.

Thanks for the link.

I already ordered an aftermarket clip in hopes that it does not fail after a couple months of normal use.

Earlier in the thread I said I was tapping out for the year and technically I still am. Preordered this way earlier in the year. It's great, love it. The handle...it's perfect.

Nice stuff up there! Medfords look like beautiful tanks and that Fallkniven bowie is neat.

I'm thinking of trying one of the Chavez or Blauvelt production knives farmed to Reate or We... like the Chavez Ultramar or Arcform Catalyst. Leaning towards the Arcform.

You got a beauty, so maybe you don't like ZT's.

I find edge retention really great on ZT's compared to cheap stuff like Big 5 "$60" knives that are always on sale for $20... or cheap chinese steel on $15 Chinese Kershaw's, etc...

The ZT bearings on a $200+ knife CAN seize up. I never had it happen with dirt but certainly did with corrosion (salt water in one day - 0452CF). That can be a definite weak link where something with phos bronze bushings has no issues. Fixed blades don't have that issue either.

I don’t want a fixed blade, they can get you in trouble and I have to work in public.

I’ve owned a lot of knives and this one should have been about $100 less.

I’ll admit it is sexy and ergonomic, just wish the edge held up to cardboard and general use.

Yeah, I hear you. I almost always use a fixed blade for recycling at home - cardboard breakdown. I just keep three or so knives in the garage like a Mora or similar. If they stop slicing I run them trough the Worksharp a few passes.

Not the hottest steel now but I really love Elmax. Cheap slicing I like Kershaws... Cryo G10, Thermite, RJ, Blurs. I really like the BDZ1 steel Blur Tanto.

Thanks!

I love Cold Steel, the Code 4 Tanto is a favorite, and never lost its edge. Probably one of the best sub 100 knives out there.

Its S35VN steel right? Thats probably the best edc everyman blade steel on the market. Cardboard is one of the fastest ways to dull any knife doesnt matter the steel. While the 0095 is one of ZT lower end knives its still much higher quality than a Gerber or Cold Steel or etc.

An update:

Bought an MXG Titanium pocket clip in blue finish for this knife.

It is obviously stronger but the finish has gotten smacked in just over a week.

The clip will probably hold out longer than factory, but will never be worth what they charge.

I was recently looking at the Arcform Catalyst as well. I really like the black titanium/brown micarta scale version. Great looking knife.

Another one that has piqued my interest as of late is the Anso Orso by Italian company Viper Knives. Nice lines, M390 steel, and carbon fiber handle scales that are said to actually have some texture to them for better grip instead of the usual smooth carbon fiber. Not absurdly priced either.

Nice looking. Yeah I always thought Tuffknives had some awesome stuff, but $1300 is pretty rich. $265 is probably a steal. I like the brown/od micarta and the CF... tough choice. Copper looks cool too.

I wouldn't say a 0095 is lower end. Still typically sold for over $200... now it is discontinued so it is selling for $180. Maybe a 0350 and 0566 are the lower end... models with speedsafe for sure IMHO.

Agreed, there's not a ZT that is on par with a Gerber or CS folder in general... CS makes some really nice fixed blades that I'd rather have over a ZT. I haven't had a Gerber in a looong time... AR3B... I had this one and it was ok.

https://www.gerbergear.com/Knives/Folding/AR-3.00_05848

Probably any Chinese $40 liner lock would be A LOT better these days... Civivi, Tuya, etc...

I can't think of any good ones from BIG 5... Benchmade REDs were good. Benchmade had a china made line for a while.

I got a 95BW for $109 so took the plunge.

The CS knives are sick.

I have a Code 4 Tanto that anyone could use daily, a Spartan for fishing and Kukri for camping.

I have the 3V Master Tanto. Also have a SRk and one of those drop forged hunters. I'm taking a Mora All Round 5.8" fishing. Usually a Spyderco Tenacious folder. Wow, tell me where to get a 0095 for $109
