Default 'AW' Registrations Per Day Current Rate

Based on CRIS numbers the current daily rate of registration is 100K. Also, though based on very limited experience, registering after, say, noon is really slow, but late at night is great.

Yup, file upload speeds have noticeably dropped compared to April.

Lunch time 12-2 pm is also slow.

Worst part is after you upload your pics, then try to submit. The features, semiautomatic category and joint registrant data are very slow to load. If you click too early, the data goes missing and you get dinged. Gotta let all that data load into the computer before you hit submit.

OP, how do you determine the current CRIS number to determine a rough daily rate?

WTF? At that rate they will have registered 2 million in June alone. That would be 133% of the estimated 1.5 million the DOJ based their estimate on.

I highly doubt they can process even 1,000 a day.

Gonna have to hire a lot more DOJ agents to seize guns from innocent people trying to do what the government told them they must...

CRIS number is per CFARS database transaction not AW only transaction.

Think of all of the other transactions that they do.

I had a cheap (budget) home built AR Pistol I ended up registering. And I registered it because now the CA DOJ removed it from any "grey area" it might have fallen under. When the law was passed, in 2016 I purchased a lower and did a really nice AR15 rifle build specifically to register before I couldn't own a featured rifle any longer. It was actually my first rifle. I'm okay with the registration for the gun as I wouldn't have been able to own it if I waited. Recently I built a featureless AK. I had no long guns owned before 2014 so it didn't make a difference to me.

I'm still wondering how OP was able to estimate 100K submissions per day...

I'm gonna call BS on that.

They might get a spurt like that on the very last day but I'm willing to bet that less than 20% of people actually register their weapons.

BTW for the DOJ flunkies who no doubt prowl this board I converted mine to featureless, not worth the hassle of mailing in pictures etc

Not at all. Just a lot less expensive than converting to featureless or a fixed mag, especially when we will be moving to Idaho as soon as our new home is built.

Those folks with semi-auto detachable magazine shotguns have no good option like AR platform. There is no featureless option on those kinds of shotguns and who wants to take a nice semi-auto shotgun and turn it in to non-semi?
1. register
2. convert to non-semiauto by blocking gas port
3. get it out of state

But ya I hear ya.

My point for ARs is to register as BBAW, then buy another lower or rifle for featureless. Preserve both options. For ARs, it is not an either/or choice. It's a crappy choice, but preserving both options is smarter than restricting oneself to one option.

You know, I have talked to some shooting buddies and have yet to find anybody who registered, all went featureless or fixed mag.

That's 1.16 AW's every second of every of every day...seems pretty unlikely...1000 registrations...maybe, but even that sounds high.

Yup, typical California people.

More will bend over and register than would vote or join the NRA.

The politicians aren't the problem here, its a populace that are ignorant to the US constitution and forced fed a doctrine that keeps them cowards.

Seriously, I'm not trying to offend anyone and apologize if I have. Just trying to provide information I thought might be useful. The number was based on the CRIS number on day x and the CRIS number on the following day y. Again my apology if anyone was offended or if my understanding of DOJ procedure was in error. (I promise to be more politically correct the next time around). I also apologize if I've misspelled anything or if I've used poor grammar. I won't apologize for being conservative. Sorry. If anyone needs a personal apology please send me a message. Life is short.

I don't know a single person outside this forum who is registering...and only 1 that went featureless.

It does seem high. It’s likly a lot of people waited until the last minute to decide what to do.

What’s the average wait time these days? That’s another good indicator. I submitted something a few weeks ago, haven’t gotten anything back yet. And yes I bent over but it only takes about 15 minutes

HELLO, EVERYBODY! DID ANYONE READ THIS POST?!

EVEN SO, 100,000 per day for all registrations in CA sounds pretty unlikely too.

In one degree or another you could say every option apart from running a standard mag release unregistered is "doing what your CA master's want"

Featureless look dorky but ultimately the best option barring a resounding SCOTUS victory (or Article V slam dunk).
