Default Is this for real? Forests still closed even with no fires close by?

Five forests remain closed, including the Eldorado National Forest in the Sierra, where the Caldor Fire burned more than 219,000 acres as of Wednesday. The Los Padres, Angeles, San Bernardino and Cleveland National Forests in Southern California also remain closed due to fire risk.

Is this guy running for Governor?

I for one am truly shocked.... The public being pushed out of public land?! Not too long ago Los Padres was closed due to fire risk and there was a few inches of snow on the ground.... I emailed the Los Padres forest supervisor , Kevin Elliot, guy is a clown. Just gave me a bunch of canned responses that didn't logically address the points I made.

I just got notification that Cleveland is closed until the 22nd now. Soon I want a refund on my land lease. The forest supervisor for Cleveland did it.

From their website:

VALLEJO, Calif., — Sept. 14, 2021. The USDA Forest Service Pacific Southwest Region will end the regional closure order affecting National Forests in California at 11:59 pm on Wednesday, Sept. 15, two days prior to the original end date of Sept. 17. However, forest-wide closures will remain in place and be extended until midnight on September 22nd on the Los Padres, Angeles, San Bernardino, and Cleveland National Forests in Southern California due to local weather and fire factors, as well as a temporary strain on firefighting resources supporting large fires in other areas of the state.
In addition to the four National Forests that will remain closed in Southern California, some National Forest System lands throughout the state will be closed under local closure orders in areas of ongoing wildfires to ensure public safety. This includes the Eldorado National Forest in Northern California, which has a forest closure order until Sept. 30. Fire restrictions also remain in place across all National Forests in California to prevent new fire starts. Please refer to the local National Forest that you plan to visit to obtain specific information on closures and restrictions.

Sequoia is closed from the entrance to Grants Grove south. I think you can still access Grants Grove & get back into Kings Canyon for now.

This is the new normal. The government has been emboldened by the COVID shutdowns....look for more closures for various reasons....and of course the agencies that close their facilites won't be sending their now even more worthless staff home for lack of work to do...that will sit around on the taxpayers' dime, watching porno and bitching about the masses they are supposed to serve.

Oh you watch, they’ll add one more week for good measure. My deer spot is toast now that they are going to close NF every year.

Discussion on the TV news last night is the forests will stay closed until it rains again.
Then the wet forests will have to stay closed due to the danger of erosion and falling rocks.
The rains will have caused an "explosion of undergrowth" which is now a fire hazard so the forests will remain closed until the undergrowth goes away.

The forests will be closed for just two weeks until the fire is out . Heard something like that before.

I hunted during the stay at home order because, really, what does dfw or usfs care about some nerd protocols. But this is different because you’re in their home court and I think they’d take it personally even if they’re skeptical too. So if this turns into a protracted “2 weeks to flatten the curve” lie that stretches past the 22nd I’d say: USFS, even if you’re straight up making an honest call based on fire risk and personnel shortages etc, THIS IS NOT THE YEAR FOR IT.
