Default Just got my first bow.. need a case & other accessories?

Hey guys,

Just got my first bow last night and shot it this morning. I m in love with it. Archery is amazing, I wish I discovered it earlier.

I got a diamond deploy compound bow (way higher than my budget but I m so glad the man working there convinced me to go for it). I wanted a compact case for it. Seems like all the bow cases on amazon are huge? Any recommendations?

Any other accessories you guys recommend?

you bought a compound, so do you have a mechanical release yet? gonna need one of them. some arrows, maybe a sight if the bow didn't come with one.

Skb cases are both made in California and bulletproof.

I've been eyeballing te SKB 3614 case for my Mathews, but it's not a cheap case. I haven't seen them go on sale, and are always over $200.

You need to make one of these to work on your bow.

Welcome to the world of archery!

Here is my 2 cents: Unless you need an actual hard case because you'll be driving 2000 miles with a ton of equipment jostling in the back of the truck, there is no need for a hard case. The problem with hard cases is that they are super heavy and take up a lot of space. I went with a 20 dollar soft case from amazon and it works great.

If you don't have a mechanical release, definitely get one and just practice a lot. The key to archery is the same as the key to proper rifle or handgun shooting-consistency and doing the same thing every time. With archery the little details show themselves even more.

If you're looking to get into the target side of things, then gear up! If you're just enjoying casual shooting and maybe some hunting, then you don't need half of what people say you do. You can still shoot compounds with fingers -- did it for a few years out to about 80 yards (target). You can also opt for a thumb ring instead of a mechanical release. For sights, use the tip of the arrow or learn to shoot instinctive. No, none of these things will get you the precision of a good compound setup. But within 40 yards, you'll still be smacking paper plates if you do your part. The extra bells and whistles are definitely more accurate. But they're not as necessary as you might think.
