And that's why most of the rest of us are armed. Good luck with "takking" anything from one of us.

If you "TAK" anything from me or my friends or family you will be dealt with in a negative manner...sorry in advance.

It is because of people like you that we require the right to keep and bear arms. And dictionaries.

By the way, I used to go to a forum a year ago where we discussed the same BOB issue. After 16 pages, somebody started talking about the necessity of protecting our supplies, and he said that he would shoot anybody who comes too close (in a SHTF situation). I think that TRUST would be generally low, but there would still be many people who wouldn't want to harm others unnecessarily and would be looking for a good group. I still wonder, how can we recognize, who is a threat and who's not, before it's too late.

I'm hoping for a world in which honor, courage, virtue and help value a lot. In the meantime, I'm trying to have a high awareness about the world around.

Sorry, it's a bit different subject, but it's related enough...

I would start by picking you...but you live in San Fran...little far from me in Simi...in a SHTF situation we might be worlds apart in distant but not ideas.

If you start the threat I will look for it.

Still, let's keep on posting any related info to this one. I think it's a very good thread.

I added my pics to the first posting - finally - in case anyone has a voyeuristic hankering to see inside of my B.O.B.

Your BOB looks great - you seem to have gotten what you wanted

Is that a Busse Combat ASH-1 ?

It looked too much like my ASH-1 CG. If people ever see me carrying my Busse, that means the SHTF...

Almost
Any metal can facilitate the leader' formation (knife, gun, tin foil hat ), so if I was in the open, I'd get away from these items, before everything else.
The rest of the behavior is not BOB-related, like get inside a building/car or uniformly grown parts of the nearest bush/forest, don't stand with my feet apart, don't touch anything else but the ground with my feet, wait at least 30 minutes after the last thunder before coming in the open, etc.

Of course, it also depends on your circumstances.

Another item worth mentioning....

We keep around 12 cheap (K-Mart - 6 for $20) solar garden lights in our earthquake supplies. Make sure you get the white lights and not the amber. I have 2 for the BOB that strap to the outside. Lightweight and provides a light supply as long as the sun keeps shining. Not a real prob in SoCal. Or unless we need these BOB's because TEOTWAWKI comet hits Earth. Read the book "Lucifers Hammer". Will happen...just a matter of when. But the book is entertaining either way.

Along with the usual stuff I have always kept a baggie of dry dog food in my b.o.b., I figured I could survive a good amount of time on it and it's not the best tasting thing in the world so it may help deter my appetite...for a little while anyways.

But the space it takes up couldn't you just pack energy bars instead?

I have those too, but I figured if a dog can live off of dog food it's whole life it must be good enough to get me thru a couple of weeks. Like I said, the appeal to eat dog food isnt too high, so it will help with conservation.

Lol. They also lick their own butthole! But seriously, is it regular dog food or lamb and rice?

If a situation ever arises my family will all be wearing homemade CG t-shirts, so don't shoot, we're friendlies.

I think some of the often overlooked items in a BOB are maps (the more detailed for you area the better) with already identified "escape" routes and various predetermined destinations. Also portable radios, baby wipes (various uses), and any prescriptions you may need on a daily basis. Great packs so far. I have three kids, some in diapers still so my pack seems to grow weekly and is in a constant state of change.

+1 on a detailed map and escape routes preplanned. wouldn't matter what you have if you don't know where you're going and what's ahead of you. just don't let the zombies get a hold of it!

Where is it... not to thread jack but it would be pretty cool if we had a general map of California with "friendly" flags.... Simi to San Francisco can be a ways but if there are "friendly" stops along the way that helps.... just don't be expecting me to share some of my dog food
