Default Fresno/Madera/Tulare Co Ammo Updates

Please use this thread for local ammo status at Walmarts and Big5s. In particular the following calibers: 22, .223/5.56, 9 mm, and .45 ACP

If there is a store besides the two mentioned above please post updates too.

Thanks.

This trend is open for real time inventory for stores in any of the cities within either Madera, Fresno, and Tulare County. Even Kings County too.

I mentioned Walmart and Big 5 because both stores sell ammo on a regular basis. But I would also include Dick's Sporting Goods as well.

Was at the new "mega" Walmart in Clovis last week. Nothing but .243, .270 and some misc. shotgun ammo. Fresno Ag, however, has an amazing selection (only had 22 short though) of all calibers. Only problem was pricing. Super expensive.....223 Rem was going for $1.25/rnd and 30/30 Win was at $1.70/rnd.

I stopped by the new Wal mart in Clovis last week, the case was pretty empty except for two boxes of Remington .223 value packs. 50 for $25.00. The guy said he had just put them out 15 minutes prior. I bought one and left the other to make someone else's day.

Both west shaw and Herndon & Ingram Wally's only have the normal .243, .270, 30-06 rounds this morning. Nothing new.

Every time over the past two weeks I have walked into PRK, Fresno location they have had .223/5.56 in stock but its pricey.

I know a place in the area (I ain't tellin' where) that one would not expect to find ammo in. He doesn't sell any other sporting goods; he sells ammo simply because he is an avid hunter and shooter. His stuff will last longer than most of the "obvious" outlets where ammo will stay stocked for less than an hour. If I "blabbed" about it here, I'd lose a good source! Since reading this thread, I think go down there and ask if he'd have somebody give me a call when he gets new ammo in! It's a dog-eat-dog world out there!!!

Prices are a little high (compared to Walmart prices anyway), but not exorbitant.

I was at Sports Authority in Fresno yesterday picking up bird shot. They had no .22, .223, or 9mm. They about 30 boxes of 45 ACP. A ton of 300 win, 30-06, 243, 270 and 30-30.

If anyone finds any .38 spc. please post that too.

My neck of the woods was pretty safe until people decided to drove from far to hoard the ammo we had. The only stuff that was hard to get was .223, everything else was widely available. good thing I'm prepared and only buy ammo occasionally.

The other day while I was there some idiot said "If I call in can you hold it for me? I came all the way from _______" I wanted to say NO *****! That aint how it works.......

A little off topic, but anyone planning on attending the Rocky Mtn Gun Show this weekend at the Visalia Convention Center? I've been hearing rumors about "free ammo." It may be worth looking into.

I was thinking of going to the gun show however im warning you guys...I went to the Bakersfield one in January and it was pandemonium...I waited 2.5 hours in line just to get in and by the time I got in there little to no ammo...Things have calmed down a little since January but I’m just throwing it out there so you know what to expect...It’ll be a gamble it might pay off or it might not...I might just go but im dreading the idea of waking up at 6am on my day off =P

Definitely not a fan of Black Friday masses and pandemonium. I'll have to pass on this time around and wait for everything to "normalize". Good luck to the persistent ones!

I will put this back on topic.

Madera Walmart. 3/30 @ 0700hrs

Existing rifle rounds in the case.

270, 30-06, 7mm, some other misc.

Received in last night.

6 boxes of shotgun shells. Boxes not cases.

That's it.

Spencers on 41 and 15ish (Madera) had plenty of .38 practice ($24). I noted in the Rimfire forum they had 10/22 mags as well.
Herb Bauers had .38 and 357 defense rounds for about $27.

Thanks for the update. I usually don't even think of Herb Bauer's because of their prices, but I may have to check them out.

I agree, but I always stop when in Fresno to check out the used guns. If you can get past Spences attitude in Madera (like not say anything to him, just ask to buy what you want ) they have alot of .38 as of Saturday.
Everyone I've talked to say the same thing, so I know it's just not me.

Big 5 in NE Fresno gets their new ammo in on Wed before they open the doors. A line forms early in the AM.

I will never go back to get more of "Spences attitude".

Madera Walmart has nothing!!!! And I mean NOTHING!!!! 4 boxes 270, I box 30-06.... That's it! Nothing else. They were supposed to get in some shotgun shells, some 410, 20, & 12 but nothing in sight for anything of interest!

Good luck boys!!!
