Default Got my DOJ clearance letter! (sac county) would like some advice.

Now I need to schedule a concealed carry training course. I'm strapped for cash right now, and have to balance finding a good course, with availability (for both me and the course/instructor) as well as something thats not too expensive...

anyone have particularly good experiences (please let me know of any bad ones too) with any of the Sacramento area instructors?

From what I've seen so far, I can expect to pay $180+ for a 16 hour course with range time, but if anyone has any good deals I'd be happy to hear about those too.

Then theres the $80 for the final appointment.

So with $20 for the initial appt, $120 for the live scan, ~$180 for a training course and $80 for the final appointment, it will come to a total of $400.

I have 60 days (from march 28) to take the course and have my final appointment scheduled. For those wanting to know, my initial appointment was the 30th of January. I got the email clearing me for Livescan on Mar 1.

As far as availability, My best (without rescheduling work, which I cant afford to do) days are sunday and monday...

Thanks for any advice or tips in advance!

do yourself a favor and call universal security on fruitridge road. 916-393-7878
they alternate their training days to help people in your situation. it is a very "matter of fact" training course. (you are not a navy seal when you complete it)

the money you spend on training is the best part of that money spent. I used Wes at LFI..was excellent- but I think Weekends only- 16 hours is tough to split into mulit days.

Wes at LFI - I understand the money issue - but you want quality training. Bad training isn't something you want to bet YOUR life on.

Step 4 - You will receive notification, generally within 30 days, if your application for a Concealed Weapons Permit has been approved or denied. If you are denied, you can review the appeals process below if you want to appeal the board's decision. If your application was approved, you will also receive a Department of Justice (DOJ) LiveScan form and LiveScan instructions. DOJ processes your fingerprints and notifies the Sheriff's Department of your clearance to carry a CCW permit. DOJ charges a fee of approximately $122 for the fingerprinting, criminal history check and firearms eligibility letter. The DOJ clearance usually takes 30-90 days. During this waiting time, its recommended that you take any necessary training requirements.

Another vote for CSTA. Only $100 and Ken, the instructor, is a great guy. http://casecuritytraining.com/

By the way, Wes's and Joe's training did NOT disappoint. Definitely sending my Fiancee there for her training as well.
