We had 7 attend, with most of the discussion about logistics, dues, and getting workshops off the ground. It's a start!

We also learned that Crazy Otto's makes a mean breakfast.

A buddy (Jaeisla) and I are interested as well. Neither one of us have experience. Wish we would have known sooner so that we could have made the 1st meeting.

Sorry I haven't responded sooner. Anyway, the meeting went well. I finally finished my leftovers last night. I got two more meals out of my leftovers. Anyway, at the meeting we decided on a time, place and which strippers will be hired for our first "reloading clinic". Man do we have our wives and girlfriends fooled. The first clinic is already filled with students but, another instructor/experienced helper or three won't be turned away. We are starting with just four students (all were at the meeting) and three or four instructors (myself, tujungatoes, Intoforever and possibly Disarmed Marksman) but, another 1-3 people who want to help and get a little experience teaching would be more than welcome to attend. It will be 9 am, July 14th, at my place. We decided to go cheap on this first class and do a bring your own lunch thing. We do have another potential location which is in town (Santa Clarita) instead of in BFE but, at the first meeting everyone decided to try it at my place first.

On another note, I met with Exodus343 on Sunday and he has stepped up to help start a Long Beach Area Sub-Chapter of the LA County Chapter. He is a newer reloader but, that isn't important. We just need him to organize and coordinate things in his area.

I am already planning to have a second clinic within a few weeks after the first one but, the exact date and location hasn't been decided on. It might be anywhere in the county! So, stay tuned to this thread for more details. I can't promise to respond to every PM and individually update everyone for each event. So, until we get a private, members only forum, I'll just continue to use this thread for all announcements.

Dues and expected donations for clinics will be figured out in the next few days.

I'm in for the long beach area shindig. Almost have all my equipment but have not used yet as I want to do it "right and safe" the first time.

I'll be going to LB to help. I guess it's a shorter trip from SCV to LB.

Only 8 days until the first LA Chapter beginning reloading clinic. At our first Meet and Greet it was decided to keep this one small and at my place. I'm just not sure how many students I can accommodate with the possibility of high heat and high winds. The class will consist of only 4 students and possibly 6-8 instructors. So, it should go very smoothly and each student will have plenty of help and supervision. It is also going to be a BYOL (bring your own lunch) to keep everyone focused on reloading instead of BBQing. At this time, the class is already full but, there will be more classes soon so, post here if your are interested in attending this class if there are cancellations or the next class. We are also looking for other possible locations to hold classes. anyone has a garage, warehouse, shop, etc. that they are willing to offer up anywhere in LA County, shoot me a PM.

I have posted interest in this class in an earlier post. I was out of town for the first meet and greet. I am new to handloading/reloading and would be able to make July 14 if you have cancellations. Otherwise the ability to just stop by and watch, bring my own lunch, and help anyway I can(without being in the way)would be great.

We are planning the next class for August or early Sept. It will be closer to civilization and held in a member's business parking lot in Saugus.

very good first meeting.i had never reloaded before, but i started getting equipment a few weeks before otto's breakfast and the weeks after i began preping brass. the week before i found powder and bullets and so i began at first to make some 223. they shot well and seemed an improvement over the cheap serbian or whatever i had.
at the first meeting on sunday i loaded 30-06 and asked questions as i went along, like is this the best way and should i be doing something different? so i didn't have a million things to remember and all in all i feel much more at ease with whole process.
the more experienced guys where great to work with and i hope to see some new faces soon.

OK, we've had one official seminar and one test seminar before that. Now, it's time to start planning the next one. It will be held on a weekend, outside, in the parking lot of a business in the Santa Clarita Valley. I'm thinking late August or early September. We will need instructors and equipment which will dictate the number of students we can handle. So, I'm in with at least two presses, a trimmer or two, a few scales, assorted dies and whatever components I need to bring or buy. Who else is interested in helping and/or being a student? Any dates that work best or don't work at all? August 10th is out due to myself and probably other NRA Instructors who would attend this are already committed to the CGSSA Women On Target event.

I'm interested in helping / student. My experience level is low and have only loaded pistol. What is the format for this meet. Rifle? pistol? Is there any certain caliber? I'd be interested in learning to reload rifle but I'm not set up for it yet. I'm also willing to help set up if needed.

I'm interested in reloading but don't have any equipment yet and am curious if its better to try and get to one of these classes before I go out and buy anything so I have a better idea of what I should be getting. I'm looking to start reloading 30-06 for the Garand and then move into .45 / 9mm and .223.

Invited from 1000 yd rifle thread as student.

I am good for any weekend day in August, preferably a Saturday.

I would like to use all my own stuff (powder, primers, brass, bullets, dies), if possible. I have a complete single stage set-up at home, just need a little guidance. I have already prepped the brass.

Can donate some consumables if need be, I am pretty confident I would pick this up quickly.

Will we do just pistol rounds?

Many thanks!
