Thoughts on 14.5" upper
Hi all
I bought a couple of Noveske Lowers just before the election, and I want to build one of them into a short duty gun. From what I understand I can get a 14.5" barrel as long as it has a pinned compensator/flash hider that extends the length to 16" overall. I want to use the longest Troy alpha rail possible, and I assume 13.5" is going to fit. Anyone have any suggestions on barrel/upper and component selection? I would probably prefer to get an assembled upper, but can't see anything I like. Phil |

Call Rainer Arms. I like the RUC, but if you're set on the Troy rail, they can work with you.
Here's the stock RUC specs: 14.5″ Standard or Lightweight Cold Hammer Forged 5.56mm Barrel Extended M4 Feed Ramps MPI HP tested Bolt Auto carrier with properly staked carrier key 1 in 7″ twist Mil Spec Phosphate finish Mid length gas system 1⁄2×28 threads Pinned low profile gas block Forged flat-top upper receiver Rainier Arms Evolution Free Float System - 12.0 Rainier Arms Raptor Charging Handle Rainier Arms XTC pinned to 16″ OAL Diamond Head Back Up Iron Sights Price is very decent. -W |

I don't think Troy makes a 13.5" Alpha rail unless it's something new.
I bought a barebones LMT 14.5" M4 upper from Bravo Company and had a Vortex pinned to the barrel. It's a great upper, considering I got it for $450 on sale a while ago. I ended up chopping off the front sight and shaving it down to fit under the Troy 13" Alpha, here's a pic: I can consistently hit a silhouette at 300 yards with green tip, which is accurate enough for me. |

I just built this a couple weeks ago, I know you're looking for a 14.5" |
