If you find a better place I'd like to know, but Amazon is about the best place I've been able to find them.

Major Surplus in Gardena, but I think they’re a little expensive.

The in-store selection has been low recently check online first.

Will do. I usually get a couple cases for the family (short term) and Mountain House (longer term) https://www.ldpcampingfoods.com/Moun...Dried_Food.htm

Are the amazon ones real MRE's? I know there's a bit of "civilian" versions. I'm looking for the mil version. I can attest that one I had with a 2011 inspection date was gtg 2013 (stored @ 68-70deg ambi).

Thanks Garv and RogueSniper. I've been there and they seem to have repackaged items (from the real ones) and non-mil versions of MRE's.

The mil version has a very thick vinyl package and says not for sale on the outside. It protects the contents well as I've lugged a few of those with my kit in Africa.

They seem to be OOS. Thanks for the heads up though.

There is a guy in lomita that sells on craigslist.
I wait for the sales at major surplus. Signup for their email.
I go to major surplus and buy the Indivdual packs to taste them. Those go on sale sometimes.

Look on eBay for some. I've bought from Solid Solutions before. They have bundles of 2 or 3 MRE's with diffferent menus available. Like some sellers I've seen they have free shipping.

The ones I got from Amazon were GI issue. I haven't checked with them recently. I go almost exclusively Mountain House for long term as well, they just taste darn good and it's good for a long time...

Just personally, nowadays I switched to Mountain House (pouches, #10 Cans) as my MRE.

They have long shelf life (some as long as 20-30 years,) and they are quite delicious (I actually enjoy eating them when hiking, at full range day, etc.)

I use a JetBoil to heat water for it. Very compact and weather-proof.

My go-to places for Mountain House are:

- Nitro-Pak.com (been buying from them since Katrina, good seller.)
- Amazon (It often has the Classic Bucket on sale.)
- MountainHouse.com (sign up for email list, it often have items for sale.)

So I just bought two boxes (A&B) for my Earthquake stash from Amazon. It was 24 meals with heaters and all of the little bags for $143.90 (before tax) with free shipping. So around $6 per MRE for 2019 Inspection date. The same seller has 2018 ones $5 cheaper if you plan to use them sooner.

That’s the one! I typed up the number and it came up in my phone. Good guy. I actually used his stuff in N. Uganda in a pinch. F’n gold when you in the middle of bfe. Thank you!

Mountain house consists about 70% of my rations. Just need to rotate out the MRE’s from 5yrs back.

Hopefully he’ll have 2020 or newer insp dates.

I bought from that guy when he was advertising here. They were legit .mil MREs.

Last 2 cases I bought were on Amazon. Those were legit too. Read the reviews to get a sense of the seller before buying.

Me personally I’d rather have mostly freeze dried mtn house and mres to supplement when you can’t make a fire. Mres are really bulky for the calorie content.

OP, since you mentioned you are looking to "refresh, look for the later dates, as they will store longer.

Most I just checked on Amazon had dates that "inspect" was 2017-2019, and for ~$150, I'd like them to last a few years. Not that I haven't eaten canned Vietnam-era rats 20 years ago, but still... with kids, I would like money spent on emergency chow to last as long as possible, as I would be "storing" it with earthquake supplies.

I go with amazon for MRE's for price and free shipping.
Also Wally World will ship canned food to your house for free with a 35$ order and 2 day shipping, if your not in a hurry they will give you an extra discount for 7 day delivery.

What is a good price for standard military MRE's? Is it maybe just cheaper to just buy canned food and dry goods?

Default Some options

I purchase civilians MREs, I do not need the accessory packets. BTW; the suppliers for the DOD also make the civilian MREs.
